WEEKEND UPDATE GOOD FOOD DARK SKIES AND MOWING

Caution, food porn ahead (ha):

For breakfast, homemade biscuits with bacon and cheese (and mayo on mine)...

One of the roads to the farm used to just be regular blacktop, no stripes, kind of bumpy, a few potholes. Since last weekend though, it has changed to a nice smooth black asphalt surface with actual stripes!

Our tax dollars at work!

When we got to the farm it was blue skies and slightly cooler.  I mowed but after the 4" of rain we received over the last week, I had to avoid the the areas with standing water.  Plenty of those!

For example, this is the driveway.  I couldn't mow down each side because that is where the water drains toward the road.

It started getting more humid and darker and the sky took on an odd color.

It was time to head back into town.

Steak dinner
Delayed photos of our 4th of July dinner.
Steak and broccolini.

Red, white and blueberry pound cake
2nd Man made homemade pound cake, I roasted some berries in the oven (instructions coming soon) and we did our own red, white and blueberry dessert!

Today is rain.
Hope you are having a good weekend!

    1. His pound cake really looks nice and moist doesn't it and looks OH, soooo delicious.
Have tried to get his pound cake recipe before but it's 2nd man secret recipe of which I respect that, as I also have my recipe secrets as well.

My late aunt also made a wonderful pound cake and never could get the recipe out of her.

    2. I don't think it's a secret I really think it's just the original pound of eggs, pound of sugar, pound of butter etc and then he adds a couple things. I'll ask him about it.

    1. They are there but I mow WELL away from them. The weather and busy time of year has kept the bee wrangler person away. Hope to have it done in the next week or so. Thank you for thinking of our safety!!

The newly resurfaced road to the Farm looks great, making the drive easier and safer.
The Farm pictures with all the shades of green against the blue sky with the puffy white clouds look so pretty.
What a delicious meal y’all had on the Fourth!
I love that falling-rain picture - so peaceful.

  6. Your food looks exquisite. That dessert...…….Yum. Can't get much better than homemade pound cake topped off with fruit; Yum
Hope you both had a wonderful holiday despite the flooding you had there.
The rain picture; only wish it was raining here. We could really use some but I guess eventually we will have our turn at some rain showers. Just gotta be patient I guess.
We are under a No Burn ban and also there was NO personal fireworks ban so was actually pretty quiet around here compared to previous years on the evening of the 4th. Kinda nice actually; was able to get some sleep.
    Have a great week

    1. We did have a nice weekend. Burn ban? We had one a few weeks back but that's gone now. We've had several inches of rain over the last few weeks. But even with that the garden is like "we're done!". ha.
