It's been a good weekend. Cold but the rain finally cleared out. Last night, it almost got down to freezing at the farm. The low was 34.
We had a really tasty dish that 2nd Man just sort of made up of things we had on hand. Ground beef cooked with garlic, onion powder, other seasonings and then some zucchini and yellow squash. It was hearty and satisfying.
Of course, it's cold and that means Hobart needs some sunshine. So we put his afghan over by the patio door where the sun was streaming in because...
#notspoiled
2nd Man; that sure does look delicious.
ReplyDeleteMe here; I'm just fixing Mussgo
Beautiful day here today; sun shining and very light breeze
You both have a great evening
Mussgo? Haven't heard of that but will look it up.
DeleteWhen mom would put left-overs on the table I always remember my dad saying " Mussgo". Nether words; Everything must be eaten up; in turn; Everything mussgo (must go).
DeleteWas Always my dads favorite saying whenever we had left-overs. With 6 in the family, Nothing was wasted. That was when I was just a young chick then, now I'm an old hen.
"Mussgo" is going to be our new favorite word. Love that. I will add that to our vocabulary. Next time 2nd Man is looking around in the fridge for dinner ideas, I'll just say "mussgo", ha!!
DeleteHow does the "chef" not have onions on hand? LOL Onions are a must-have for me (not the powder), but have garlic powder handy.
ReplyDeleteLOL, right?? Normally we do have onions in our onion crock thing on the counter but were out. We get this really good powdered onion (and minced onion) at local shop and it's so good. It works in a pinch, like this, ha. We also have their garlic powder. I did buy onions the other day, ha. I LOVE onions in anything.
DeleteThat meal looks delicious! Sometimes, just putting together what you have is the best meal. Can I come lie by Hobart? It is cold here, I am cold. The sun that shines on me in the evening is right in my face!
ReplyDeleteYes, we (well, mostly him since I just enjoy the end result) love to just see what we have and come up with something. Hobart said you are welcome to share his sunspot, ha. Stay warm!
DeleteYep, when the night time 30’s appear, Winter is coming!
ReplyDelete2nd Man’s creativity made for a delicious looking dish. Some of the best meals happen with some ingenuity and possibilities.
Hobart looks so comfy on his afghan sleeping in the sunshine – smart boy!
It's coming, Winter is here I do believe. Yep, just making up something with what you have can result in new and regular meals, ha. Stay warm and dry!
DeleteSome of the best dishes come out of thin air like that. Hobart looks very cozy.
ReplyDeleteThat's the best way isn't it? And almost always so good. The downside is a few weeks later, you can't remember what it was to recreate it, ha. That's actually one reason we post these so we can go back and say "oh yeah, remember that? it was so good". ha.
DeleteI survived two hurricanes in a six-week period. Some tree damaged, one large is flat on the ground and the other leaning toward the house but don't seem like it will fall. Both trees are about eight foot taller than the house. It is hard to get someone to do tree work right now. Everyone is busy.
ReplyDeleteWe were wondering how the second one impacted you. That's so scary. And I guess this one came at you from the other side so it blew stuff back the other direction, probably making things weaker (like trees). Be safe!!! Hang in there, at least no more now...time to recover and rebuild. Thinking of everyone in Florida!!
