It's another rainy day. You may have seen last night's post, well today we have been under flash flood warnings on and off all day. This weekend has been a COMPLETE washout. Fortunately, they say we are on a drying trend. We hope so.
Yesterday, we cracked open a can (LOL) of "Our House Wine", their rainbow edition sparking rosé. One can is just enough for two glasses.
Then we made some steaks, roasted broccolini and, don't hate on us, French fries. Because sometimes you just need something other than a baked potato, ha.
Hobart is taking advantage of the rainy day by sleeping...on the table...on his afghan...with his favorite catnip infused sock toy. Because...

We didn't want to forget to wish all the moms out there the very happiest Mother's Day! Thank you all for being there to guide your children through life!
Your meal looks delicious and nothing wrong with having French Fries to go along with. After all, they are a potato.
ReplyDeleteBeen raining off and on here but no hard rain; just nice easy, light shower.
Went to Calloway's Nursery this morning to pick up a Rose of Sharon; along with a orange colored Hibiscus. I'm not into receiving cut flowers, but a tree, shrub or whatever that blooms is perfect to plant in the yard. Couldn't turn down hubby's offer in that area on picking what I wanted for Mother's Day. Will take a potted plant any day.
Enjoy your evening.
Hobart; I wish that where me taking a nap. I could use one right about now.
Thank you. Glad you found a Rose of Sharon. I love hibiscus and and they do so well down here and have such instant color (and so many colors and sizes). Now they die in winter sometimes but hey, we'll think of them as really large annuals, ha. I don't know how hardy they are once big and established, probably light freeze fine. When we are out there or have a house done, will plant lots of those for the quick beautiful color.
DeleteI like the thinking of something potted over cut. It's the gift that keeps on giving!
A hardy Hibiscus does return year after year with new shoots producing / arriving from the old wood; (root area) and the tropical ones with the shiny leaves will not survive here in my zone, I put them in containers so will have to bring them inside once freezing temperatures arrive.
DeleteOh great to hear, thank you!
DeleteAs bad as French fries are for a person, I shared a portion with Tommy today. They were fresh and fried with the peeling on. Delish. Maybe in six months, we will share another portion. I have had my nap for the day, but did not have catnip.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they aren't the healthiest but sometimes they are so good. We have them once every few months. Sometimes onion rings instead. Now I'm hungry, ha.
DeleteThat is a really delicious looking meal! Everyone deserves a treat of French fries sometimes - especially after y'all have gone through the misery of having Covid.
ReplyDeleteHobart has the right idea for a rainy day - enjoy a nice nap!
We think of it as a treat, we certainly don't have them often. Plus we use frozen baked in the oven so not AS bad as fried in oil ha. Thank you!!
