GOOD FOOD AND HOBART RACE DAY SUNDAY

It's been a nice long weekend so far.  See yesterday's post for that update.  Today is time for sharing some good food...

Yesterday we had steaks with mushrooms and a wonderful baked potato with all the fixings (butter, cheese, sour cream bacon and chives).  Also had a salad on the side and a couple glasses of wine.

On the menu today is a batch of pork carnitas with homemade corn tortillas and all the extras.

Here's Hobart doing...wait, WHAT???  What happened to his ears?  LOL!

No surgery, we used a filter to give him rabbit ears.  Hilarious.  Even with big ears, he's...

Regular readers know that we enjoy NASCAR and Indy races.  Today is the big day for racing.  Right now as this posts, we are watching the Indy 500.

Then later this afternoon is supposed to be the NASCAR Coca Cola 600 (the longest race of the year) but the weekend has been a washout in NC so far.  Not sure if it will happen tonight or tomorrow but right now, it doesn't look promising for happening.

UPDATE:  Postponed to tomorrow due to rain

Hope you all are having a good weekend!

  1. Y'all are having some really Good Eating at your house this weekend! Yum!
I had to do a triple look at Hobart and those Ears! I thought at first that it must be something in the background that created that effect. I hope he forgives you for giving him Bunny Ears! :)

    1. It's been our treat for the long weekend, ha. Friday was light. Tomorrow we'll have leftovers, ha. I added a second pic of Hobart with the big ears. We didn't share the pics with him so hopefully he'll never know, LOL!

  2. The Indy race was quite exciting, right down to the finish.
Hobart is still very Precious, even with them cute ears that he has acquired.
YUM! Great looking meal you have there. Hold the mushrooms; I'll take mine with
sauteed onions. I like mushrooms but only on pizza.
Have a wonderful evening and enjoy the races.

    1. That was a great Indy 500 for sure. We were rooting for Pato O'Ward but its was great to see Newgarden win, it's been a long time come for him.

Oh I love mushrooms on anything, ha. We were going to do onions but didn't have any.

You too, great weekend so far.

    2. The races got rained out Sat. so I kinda figured that they wouldn't be able to race yesterday.
I think Saturdays Infinity race will be shown on FS1 this morning sometime, and Nascar later in the day on Fox. :} Will have to get my work done that needs to be done before the race begins and lets hope that it still isn't raining there.
      Enjoy your day.

  3. I had to do a double-take on Hobart, too! That is quite a startling shot ... I was expecting a picture of carnitas and homemade corn 🌽 tortillas! LOL
My ex always loved the car races ... I hated them! I suspect he still watches them if he's able to!!

    1. They are cooking as I make this comment, ha, but no worries I've been taking pics along the way. Probably tomorrow post. :-) We know races are not everyone's cup of tea, LOL. NASCAR and some Indy car races are about all we watch.

  4. We were cheering for Ferrucci, Foyt’s driver. Great article about Foyt in today’s Chron. Always love Hobart’s pics. Deb

    1. Yes, we were rooting for him too because of AJ Foyt (2nd Man has a personal connection, albeit a couple times removed, ha) to Pato O'Ward. AJ was SO excited. Would have been a nice win too.

  5. We will watch a race, but have to be bored and stuck in the house. I thought that there was something behind Hobart, then thought it was a rabbit that looked like Hobart. He would be shocked to see himself.
