A LONELY LEAF

Leaf in a tree
I just have to post this picture because it has a funny story behind it.

I was out roaming around looking for birds to photograph, as you saw in the post on Wednesday.  Yep, you probably know where this is going.  I saw it from a distance and thought to myself, "wow, look at this bird, it's so pretty".  So I whipped out the camera, put the telephoto lens on, held it up to look through the viewfinder and snapped the picture of the bir...oops!

Oh well.  In a way, I think it's a pretty picture, and so instead of deleting it, I found artistic value (and I use the term very loosely, ha) in keeping it...and of course sharing my embarrassing moment with the world.

Not sure if there will be real birds I'll catch on camera this weekend but we'll see.  Off to the farm in the morning, since we didn't get out last weekend because of the bee school, there will be lots to do.  Updates later on Saturday!

  4. You shouldn't be nearly as embarrassed as the girl who thought it was a female cardinal and was, instead, looking at the little green leaves on the branch to the right of that 'bird'.

  5. At first glance, it does kinda look like a fat cardinal with a bob-tail. Funny story!
The architectural form of the branches is beautiful. Good picture!

    1. I think that's what I saw, a cardinal or a red bird of some sort. And I do like the way the picture came out, red lead bird or not, ha.

  6. I too watch dead leaves. You reminded me of the O. Henry story, "The Last Leaf". And that's a robin if I ever saw one!

  7. Well, I kept searching for the leaf since I had already seen the cardinal. I do need to get these cataracts removed!

    1. I tried to take a picture of a cardinal on the fence today, so cardinals were on my mind.
