Regular readers know that I have a favorite place to look for bargains...our downstairs trash area! Our building has trash chutes on every floor, and they feed into a separate room, but for boxes and other things that people can't put in the chute, there is an area (indoor) near the loading dock where people can put the things they don't want. I've found quite a few cool items over the last few years.

Another pretty amazing find. Saw this and I kicked it and it felt like something was in it. I figured maybe some trash (though I always have to be careful that it might be something gross, ha) so I pushed the top off with my foot and found this:
It was filled with 4th of July decorations! Tinsel, confetti, flag bunting, there was even an Uncle Sam hat with stars coming out of the top.
And there was a box next to it (see the FedEx box?) and since it was next to the other, I opened it:
There was even more. More garland, some flag banners and...
...five boxes of LED lights! They have price stickers of $19.99 on each!
Even a cute little sparkler type decoration.
I threw away the bin they were in and consolidated into a new cardboard box. We were happy to find them and they will go into out holiday storage to decorate our new house next year!
Hey, we guess someone had a party a couple of weeks ago and then decided 'we don't need these anymore' and tossed them...now we'll use them!
You are gonna miss that recycle bin!
ReplyDeleteI say keep access, maybe via exit door key or whatever, then just stop by and help yourself whenever the mood strikes... youve learned post-holiday is a good time for excess goodies and The Price is Right!!
DeleteI definitely think you are going to miss that bin! You may have to sneak back once in awhile just to check it out! LOL
ReplyDeleteA beautiful find. Love them light sets and hopefully they all work.
ReplyDeleteDecorating with the red, white and blue can be used; not just for Independence Day, but also for Memorial Day, Flag Day as well as Veterans Day.
Can also decorate a Christmas Tree with the red, white and blue. I think you may have a tree or 2 that you could use them decorations on.
You just may have to talk to your building manager about you coming back every now and then just to go through the 'trash' area.
Enjoy your day and have a nice relaxed evening.
Blessing 2 U both
Why did you not keep the useful bin? I think you should make arrangements to go back and help the building make good choices for the footprint.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find. This is one thing I will miss from your blog once the house is finished and you are moved in. Maybe you have a current neighbor who will invite you over to browse the trash.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sparkly find!
