FRONT PORCH DONE NEW HOUSE UPDATE

 Updates again!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  They put up the lights, the porch railing and our front door!

Haven't painted the wood yet (it will be white) but this at least gives you an idea of how it looks.

It's 13'6" this direction...

...and 15' this direction.

It's a great size!

We opted for a nice, thick and sturdy railing that is wide enough to comfortably sit a cup or glass.

Here is that new front door! It's 8 feet tall and has the most wonderful, wavy glass in it.  A couple of light fixtures as well and the porch ceiling has two recessed lights.  They are on dimmers, which will be nice.  Oh and these wood details will be white as well (painted the same time they paint the railing).

Here is front porch standing at the front door.  Again, nice and big (much bigger now that it's here in reality than we had even imagined over the last few months, ha).  There is lots of space for decorating.  My mind is going crazy at the possibilities.

There will be some hanging plants FOR SURE.  Definitely two rockers coming sooner rather than later, so that 2nd Man and I can sit there with something to drink and watch the sunrise or a rainstorm or the deer and just enjoy our lives at the place we've been waiting to be for years.

More updates coming in a couple of days!

  2. I love a big front porch in the spring, all the new greenery and birds singing. I grew up in a big two story farmhouse built in 1875, it had a big porch and lots of laughter, tears and just good times on that porch. We had a red barn and all the country living we wanted. The barn was put together with wooden pegs, no nails.

  3. Do I spy a gecko on the siding to the left of the door?!
That marvelous porch will be ideal for lots of joy! Does your new home have a screened in porch, too?

    Hugs!

  6. Yes, I noticed the little green lizard/gecko, hanging on the wall by the door right away! The porch looks bigger when you're looking from that door!

  7. that front porch is epic! Love it! You could fit quite the "room" out there. And you must have hanging plants! Do ferns do well down your way? Maybe it's too warm. Something green and lush would be beautiful. L - Janie

  9. I'm thinking you will get a lot of enjoyment from this lovely front porch. Perfect for hanging plants and rocking chairs. I also like your window shutters. They seem to have gone out of style in recent years, but I really think they add a nice visual touch to a house.

  11. A nice great outdoors living space to sit and enjoy your morning coffee or iced tea or glass of wine and watching the wild life and listening to the birds chirping away.
Such a wonderful space to sit back and enjoy mother nature. It's really going to look different once it's repainted and screened in.

Love them window shutters. Really adds a nice touch to the window. Adding a couple of faux hanging plants and potted plants sitting around will add some color to the porch; something that can be changed out easily from season to season.

You both enjoy your day along with the rest of the week.
    Blessings 2 U both.
