Our first "homemade" dinner at the new apartment. We've spent a week living out of the deli at the grocery downstairs but today 2nd Man bought some NY Strip steaks, we grilled them and made some onion rings...
Steak and onion rings?
Perhaps a bit unorthodox (no potatoes!) but it sure was yummy!
And yes, once we get all settled in, there will be pics of the new digs.
I love onion rings and those in your picture look great. When you have a chance would you mind sharing the recipe?
ReplyDeleteI will, I think it's something he just pulled off the net a few years ago. I'll pin him down on the details.
DeleteBy the way, it would be great to have a grocery store with a great deli if you did not feel like cooking. Nice.
ReplyDeleteYes, our apartment has a wonderful grocery store at the ground floor. We even have our own entrance. Now it's obviously a bit pricier than most stores since it's got a more limited market being in the downtown area, so things like a 2 liter bottle of a soft drink is a lot more expesnive than in the store BUT the food they have, the fresh meat, homemade sides, etc are REALLY good and very reasonably priced.
DeleteOh my, those onion rings look scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I'll pass the word along, ha.
DeleteAdd me to the list of people drooling over the onion rings.
ReplyDeleteHa, thanks!!!
DeleteHello, I am catching up on blogs and was so surprised to find that you are moving. I hope you enjoy your new home and that you both make many wonderful memories there! So glad that the storm did not hit your area! Wishing you a happy and peaceful new year!
ReplyDeleteHI! Missed ya!! Yes, we sold the house in town and have put the dquity into savings for use at the farm. We have moved to an apartment in downtown, we downsized a lot of our stuff, and this is the last stop before the farm in a few more years. Now we will be able to spend the next few years making it much more livable.
DeleteCome back and visit! We missed you!
I can smell those onion rings in my mind! Envious!
ReplyDeleteLOL, thanks!!! They were very good.

DeleteSo nice to sit at your own table to eat together. A grocery store in your building....how cool is that?
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly a way to make us feel like we are home for sure. Yep grocery store is great (and it's got a wonderful upstairs full of herbs and spices and fun things like that).
DeleteMmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your new place. One more step toward your dream.

ReplyDeleteI've got my eye on a building in downtown St Paul with condos above and grocery, deli etc. below for after the third child graduates and moves out. Part of my future no car plan but lits of convincing of the hubs. Still living vicariously through you guys for a ling while.
ReplyDeleteSam, my mother in law lived in such a condo for over 20 years and my husband and I were talking about that is what we want in the future. She lived well and it was such easier and fun living. You can always have just one car as an option.
DeleteWhat a delicious first meal to have in your apartment! Beautiful meal to christen the beautiful new place!
