OUTDOOR SEATING, INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Every Thursday, we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm.
Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and hopefully recreate it...enjoy!

In keeping with last week's theme of outdoor seating areas around the property, 2nd Man and were surfing and found this.  While the smooth gravel area is probably not practical (at least until we are there full time to take care of it) there is no reason we couldn't put two benches facing each other like this with a 'coffee table' in between somewhere on the property.  We like the idea of sitting and facing each other or guests and relaxing for a bit.  No cushions to worry about with this set up, ha.  We haven't purchased any outdoor furniture yet, that we had been waiting on until the time is right and we feel this year, the time is right to start on that part of things.

Sorry for my absence the last few days, I had the post up and ready to go Monday morning but then we lost our Uverse again.  I could have gone downstairs but on top of everything else, I started feeling the beginnings of a cold.  I was actually off work yesterday and feeling a bit better today.  This weekend might have to be a rest weekend.  Feeling better can quickly be undone by doing too much...if that makes sense.  I'll go back and catch up on comments as well, even if we can't reply right away, they are read (and enjoyed) every day.  Keep 'em coming.

Be inspired!

  3. Get better soon. A cold makes a person feel vile - out of all proportion to the severity of the illness. And what is it with the inexhaustible supply of snot?

  4. I wonder what wood other than teak can be left out in the rain indefinitely. ??? I know everyone likes new stuff, but my junky stuff has some seriously fine attitude. I left a wooden bench outdoors until it fell down. Then, I threw it away and found another. If you can curb pick and then paint it, you will not be out lots of money. We all have that one thing bought new! So, I am not saying don't buy new. The end of the year sales at Lowe's were great this year. You may have a better store choice.

  5. Looks like a lovely, peaceful spot. It would be perfect under some of your trees at the Farm.
As for your cold, drink some lemonade with honey. That's what I'm drinking today, for the same reason. Warm some water, add some lemon juice and honey; slowly sip on this. I have a Meyer lemon tree, which makes it even better. Lemon and honey are antibacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and high in antioxidants.

you might consider paving stones or bricks under the benches instead of gravel.

  8. I like that arrangement. It's always waiting and inviting. No need to grab the cushions if there's threat of rain. Hope your cold improves. No fun to be sick.
