I snapped this picture last weekend. Now of course there is no way to know if these are ours but odds are pretty good they are from "Ariadne Hive"...
This is a weed, can't remember the name, that I saw movement around (it was on the fence line) and so I walked over there to see what was going on. I couldn't believe it...the bees were going crazy collecting pollen. They were digging around and at times almost "disappearing" inside it.
Very cool to see!
A great picture of your lovely ladies! It's good to see that your Farm has an abundant variety of plants for bees.
ReplyDeleteIs that a bull nettle that they are harvesting from?
I'm not sure, I googled it and we do have those in the pictures but not sure if this is the same thing. There is definitely an abundance of stuff for them. I just hope it all makes the honey taste good, ha.
Deletei love watching bees work.
ReplyDeleteIt's very entrancing for sure....
DeleteHappy little Bees!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see that the bees are doing what they should be doing; working hard at it and having a good time as well I'm sure.
I think Bull Nettles get small white flowers but not for certain, but looking at the picture; that plant sure does look wicked with them thorns
Thanks, they were happy for sure. There ARE some crazy thorns....
Deleteneat pix of "your bee children"!
ReplyDeleteHa, thanks!!!
DeleteLovely. It looks as if they are almost drunk on that nectar.
ReplyDeleteYes, they were flying a little slower afterwards, ha .
DeleteYellow Thistle/Bull Thistle/Cirsium Horridulum... all those names! Valuable for bees.
ReplyDeleteI think that's it. Thanks! Good to know, I won't take them down if I can avoid it.
DeleteWhen I saw your title, I thought of that song from Enchanted, love it! And love the picture of the bees. Becca
ReplyDeleteGREAT movie. Loved it and honestly that did come to mind as well.
DeleteHow marvelous.....do you make Mead?
ReplyDeleteWell we haven't harvested honey yet (should be this season) and haven't done any mead making but I'm thinking that could be in our future.
DeleteI'm glad Ariadne's thriving! Long live the Queen!
ReplyDeleteLove live the queen for sure!!!
