Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm. Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!
Apparently this is a thing because this is one of many we saw online. Having a tree coming through a table. Then it's trimmed so that the canopy functions as a natural pergola over the table.
Hmm, the question is...which came first, the tree or the table? Did they build the table around the tree or did they allow the tree to grow up through it when smaller, thinner and more flexible?
Be inspired!
I love this and they must have built the table around the tree, not so hard to do.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbour is a retired Alaska fisherman and some years ago he sent us photos of his friend's house up there which is built around a tree! Fantastic.
Happy New Year to you guys!
Besides the table with tree my eye was drawn to all the hydrangeas around and the vine climbing on the wall. It's a lovely setting because of all the elements.
ReplyDeleteA very cool look! It would look great at the Farm.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful idea for a lot of evenings of dining alfresco. I would love doing this.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are getting hit by spammers and scammers.
Wonderful inspiration but as the tree grows more you would either have to cut down the tree or cut the table apart.
ReplyDeleteIf you plant around an acorn, pecan, etc. tree then you have a chance of them dropping off and into your beverage or food they go but it is nice to have the shade.
Now, if a person where to do this, build the table around a full grown tree.
I also like the plants that are surrounding the area but being careful of the ants, bees, etc. or even a snake hanging from the tree.
I guess there is always pros & cons to something like this. Heck, just build a screened in gazebo. :}
It appears the table was built in two pieces and connected around the tree. That way, the hole can be enlarged. Nice touch!
