I cannot tell you how much fun I had with my new lawn tractor from
John Deere. I totally felt like this:
I rode that thing all over the place yesterday. It was the most fun I've had in ages. Who knew mowing could be so much fun?John Deere. I totally felt like this:

Here it is! In all it's glory.
Dirty of course after mowing!

(no pun intended) the mowing time by over 1/3. It's got cruise control, mows in reverse, even has a place for my iPod. This is the best purchase, and a necessary one, that we've made for the farm so far. Now I just need to name it.
Not sure yet if the big green machine is a guy or a gal but when I decide, I'll work on a name. It seems a bit burly for a female name but we'll see.
I mean, people name their cars, why not their lawn tractors??

*Remind me of this though about the middle of August, ha.
As I left, 2nd Family's horse stopped to see what all the fuss was about...

Thanks for letting me share this with you...
THE ZEN MACHINE
So it is written, so it shall be!
Wheeee! The yard is looking so neat!
ReplyDeleteMowing can be fun and relaxing and rewarding. It can also be funny. Someday I might have to blog about my adventure on the riding mower ;-)
Oh oh! Sounds like a story there! Can't wait to hear it. I spent all day at work today thinking about mowing. I remember when I was young, and my Dad MADE me mow (not a riding mower, ha) I hated every moment of it. Today I was thinking "what can I mow first this weekend?". Ha.
DeleteIt looks the same or simmilar to what my hubby uses to mow the lawn. I never tried it as I'm not a gadget gal plus it's LOUD and hurts my ears, but he seems to enjoy it every week :)
ReplyDeleteHa, maybe it's a guy thing? . It it loud (though the newer ones are a bit quieter from what I've been told) but I put my iPod earbud in, cranked up the volume and I was in another world, ha.
DeleteNo riding mower here. We resolved to only cut the back lawn and I tried using a manual push mower. That didn't last so I got an electric one. Last year we got a crew to come to mow the whole thing every two weeks and I don't think I used the electric mower once last year. Lazy? No better things to do with my time. But enjoy mowing yours.
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny...we're so much alike in that. I tried one of those push mowers in the city yard, but I don't know if it was the type of grass or what but it was next to impossible to push that thing and make it work. We did the electric route too but then it was just as easy to have a yard crew come every couple of weeks.
DeleteFor the farm though, the yard immediately around the house is about 2 1/2 acres, maybe a little more, and it was just too overwhelming to even think about anything but a riding mower, ha. Now gradually, as we do stuff on the outside, I'd like to replace alot of that grass with more native plants and a more natural look. :-)
LMAO! You crack me up. I nearly spit my tea all over my laptop when I saw the weeeeeeeeeee pig because my hubbs does that sound (mainly to annoy me)! That is one fancy lookin' Deere! Glad you got your toy and your yard looks great!
ReplyDeleteHa, glad you had a laugh. I really did yesterday, when everyone was calling to see what I thought about it, said I was like the pig in the commercial; weeeeee! wee wee weeeeee! Too funny. The yard looks SO much better now. The house was starting to look abandoned when you drove up, ha.
DeleteBeautiful mower. The only kind of tractor is a Deere!! If you hadn't gotten a Deere, I might have had to slap you when I see you :)
ReplyDeleteI dodged a bullet there huh? Phew! Yeah, I did my research and it really is the best reviewed brand. We didn't want to spend the money, but there really was no choice. With that much property to care for, it would be way easy to let it get out of control in a hurry. We looked for some used ones but they either had issues or were just way too old. We figure this will be the last one we may ever have to buy. Fingers crossed.
DeleteYou and RMan - you're both addicted to your ride on lawn mowers - RMan was even mowing in the drizzle this last weekend. LOL
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
I'm liable to do the same! Yeah, maybe it IS a guy thing huh? They really are something you almost HAVE to have with any large piece of land. And the more things we can attach to the back end, the better, ha.
DeleteNow that's what I call fun.
ReplyDeleteI can't even describe. It really is. :-)
DeleteYou didn't ask for suggestions, but I think Verde would be a good name for the new addition to the farm.
ReplyDeleteVerde is a good one! And yes, i should have asked for suggestions. I'll edit it now to ask for suggestions. Thanks!!
DeleteThat is one tricked out tractor! What a perfect (and handy) gift for your birthday. I'm glad you're enjoying it, and by August you can rig up an awning system to keep you shaded while you mow...and surely such a beauty has a cup-holder for ice cold lemonade to go with the Ipod holder. ;-P Have fun!!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty impressive. We didn't WANT to spend money for it, but it's just one of those things we can't really do without. And getting something underpowered or too small would just cause more problems in the long run. And yes, it has a drink holder, ha. I'm sure I'll wax poetically about it next week too, ha.
DeleteIf you don't yell "wee" at least get a couple of pinwheels and attach them to your mower.
ReplyDeleteOMG, that's too funny! Don't tempt me, that might be kinda fun! :-)
DeleteThe jolly green giant
ReplyDeleteHa, that's a good one too!
