SPRING IS AROUND THE CORNER

Was at the farm, roaming around as I often do, and I noticed that the Mesquite trees, like the one above, are starting to leaf out with their soft, fernlike, green leaves.  Then I saw this tree below that has opened up with these beautiful white blooms.  We believe it's an ornamental pear but we're not sure.

Spring is definitely in the air!!! (or is it already here?).  What about you, is it almost Spring where you are?  Or still the dead of Winter?  Or maybe Summer on the other side of the world!

  1. The only green here is my envy!! With white everywhere and another 3 - 8 inches of the white crap in the forecast... I long for a little patch of green, some flowers, something that shows me that I will indeed be able to stop paying $3.59 a gallon for my heating oil. Yes, I remember I left Texas where it's warm. It my husband's idea. I blame him.

  2. We have a little of the white fluff, maybe pears but definitely not Bradford pears. The Bradford pears are budding here in North Georgia, but no blooms for a few weeks yet. We have some pink blooms, too -- maybe cherry trees? 100 miles south, the tulip trees have been in bloom for a couple of weeks now. Spring is just around the corner, although today is windy, damp, and cold.

  4. It snowed this morning in the high desert of western Colorado. Cold and windy this afternoon with all the snow gone. We have had an unusually cold winter this year and it is the first winter we didn't take a week or two to go somewhere south. Bad planning!

  5. Here in New England it is still very much winter. Snow/sleet/rain for the next two days, nasty but no big snow buidup. Just heard the snow plow go through. But I did see a few bulbs starting up in a protected spot so there is hope for spring.

  6. Drab, cold, grey here in Dusseldorf although I did see some snowdrops on the way to work today.
The oak tree has buds on it which is a good sign I think.
