Below is the warning we just got in our emails from the city of Houston:
________________________________________________________________
...Heat index values of between 104 to 109 degrees are expected this weekend with higher values possible...
Peak heat index values of 104 to 109 degrees are expected this weekend. A heat advisory may be required if the area begins to experience heat indices that exceed 109 degrees. As of now, we may reach or exceed 109 degrees for an hour or two during the afternoon.
Residents with any outdoor activity plans are urged to drink plenty of water...wear lightweight and light colored clothing...and take frequent indoor or shaded breaks away from the heat. Avoid strenuous outdoor activities if at all possible. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances! Remember, car interiors can reach lethal high temperatures within a matter of minutes.

Sigh...it's going to be a very hot weekend. Not sure how much will get done, outside at least, and might not go both days. We are in what we call the Hell days of Summer. Our humidity makes the heat doubly awful.
Updates as we can...might be a great weekend to accomplish some "inside" things on the list of things to do this year.

Deleteoooops, what I meant WAS, Just relax and keep cool, thats scary hot!!!
ReplyDelete. It's very scary, we really can't even do anything outside for long periods of time.
DeleteStay safe and enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
Delete1st Man,
ReplyDeleteThis type of weather keeps us indoors during the day. It's just too hot. If we do anything outside, were up before the sunrises, and back out after the prime heat of the day. Be safe!~
It is just TOO hot huh? It's the same here just so crazy only early morning works. Even evening takes forever to cool off.
DeleteStay cool and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteNow, on this hot day thought a little bit of humor would be nice.
What does a bee do when it is hot?
He takes off his yellow jacket!
What happens when you purchase a loaf of bread from Albertsons?
By the time she got home it was toast!
How hot is it?
the cows are giving evaporated milk.
the chickens are laying hard-boiled eggs
I saw a dog chasing a cat and they were both walkin'
hot water now comes out of both taps.
you actually burn your hand opening the car door.
you realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
the birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.
the potatoes cook underground, and all you have to do to have lunch is to pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.
farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs.
the cows are giving evaporated milk.
the chickens are lying hard boiled eggs.
you start buying stock in Gatorade.
the trees are whistling for the dogs.
you start putting ice cubes in your water bed.
you no longer associate bridges (or rivers) with water.
you can say 113 degrees without fainting.
Satan decided to take the day off.
the four seasons are: tolerable, hot, really hot and ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
you eat hot chilies to cool your mouth off.
your dream house is any house in Alaska.
you can make instant sun tea.
the trees are whistling for dogs.
your car overheats before you drive it.
hot water now comes out of both taps.
you learn that a seat belt makes a pretty good branding iron.
the temperature drops below 95, you feel a bit chilly.
you've experienced condensation on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl.
you would give anything to be able to splash cold water on your face.
THAT is awesome! Thank you, made our day and I cracked up laughing! That hot water in both taps is so true here in town. The pipes run under the house and the cold water side was lukewarm at best.
DeleteAwful.
ReplyDeleteStay cool, stay safe.
And you are cold right? Send some this way, ha.
DeleteEveryone here is complaining that it isn't hot enough, I think they forget that we live near the Atlantic. That's come crazy heat you're dealing with - I can't imagine really. Hope you and the bees manage to stay cool.
ReplyDeleteNot hot enough? I will gladly send some that way, ha. I'm hoping the bees are cool too. Not sure what I can do to help but fingers crossed.
Delete1st,
ReplyDeleteMy Grandpappy always told me that if you break out in a sweat thinking about going outside to do work, “It’s too Hot”!!!! Words of wisdom. Be careful whatever decide to get into. – G
WISE man! Very wise. ;-)
DeleteThe humidity makes it so much worse. I remember living in Houston and working up a complete sweat when walking down our suburban driveway just to get the mail. No fun.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you lived here once. Yes, the humidity is just unbearable mixed with the heat. Makes it exponentially worse.
DeleteYes, I’m staying indoors in this heat. But what did I do? Made 12 pints of Bread and Butter pickles. Wow, did that heat things up! Even though the house has ac, working around big pots of boiling water still makes for hot work. But someone had given me some cucumbers, so they had to be made. Afterwards, the work in the heat was all worth it when I looked at those jars of green beauties.
ReplyDeleteHope y’all are managing to stay cool.
um, YUM! But yeah, I bet they are hot work. Bread and butter pickles are one of my favorites. Sweetish but not overly sweet. I should go get some fresh cukes from the farmers market and try my hand at it. Maybe in a few weeks when it's not SO hot. Oh wait....ha.
DeleteIts so hot sighhh... non stop watering, to hot to be outside to do much of anything... Makes me dream of moving to AR mountains ... even more than normal... LOL ... take care in this heat.
ReplyDeleteYep, I hear ya. I know y'all are having it bad too. Ah the mountains, I bet they are cool and breezy. I'm throwing it out to Universe for you. You be safe (and cool!) too~
