RAINY AND COLD WEEKEND

Currently wet and 49 degrees!

2nd Family said we have had 4" of rain and counting (over the last few days).
The driveway is flooded and they said their ducks are having a blast swimming in the front yard, LOL!

So, 2nd Man and I have been looking at pictures and planning.  On days like this, we look through old photos we've taken and see what inspires us to do something.  We've decided that since we have the stars for the barn (soon to be painted!) we will need a weathervane.  We've posted before about weathervanes on an Inspiration Thursday post and so after some research online, we believe we have found one that we like.

More info on that coming soon!

Since yesterday was a lazy day of rest and relaxing in town, and today it's flooded and far too wet to go to the farm, we're finalizing our garden plans.  Original thought was to get it started this weekend...good thing we didn't actually get to do that because there is the possibility of frost this week!

Hope your weekend is going well!

  1. We got an inch of rain late yesterday but rather chilly out today and like you said; cloudy.
Our son-in-laws coming out this afternoon to help in moving my heavy planters. So with me, my hubby, both son-in-laws and grandson; Hopefully, we get them moved to new location. They are extra heavy cause they have dirt in them of which I have my strawberry plants planted from last year, which are blooming and have berries setting on and turning red already.
Need all the muscle we can get.
Hubby ad myself tried carry them ourselves but there was no way so called for reinforcements.
    Enjoy the weekend

    1. It rained all day Friday and Saturday into the evening. It only cleared up today but then it was so cold that there was not going to be any drying up that's for sure. Strawberries coming? YAY! Hey, a little extra muscle never hurts. Hope you got them moved.

  2. You're not doing too well with the weather at the moment, are you. We've had some glorious days this week and have been busy out in the garden which is now ready to plant with veg. Hope you have better weather soon.

    1. It hasn't been the last week or two. But prior to that it wasn't too bad other than the freeze in January. We know the rainy season is coming for sure. Thanks!!!

  3. We are getting very welcome rain at the moment. Not four inches though. We haven't had half that amount this year.
    Enjoy your quiet day.

  4. can't wait to see the weathervane! if you get a barn star, buy one made from pvc. it never needs to be painted and it won't rot!

    1. The weathervane should be here soon. Our star is metal, it's from when we had them at the house last year before we sold. I just never got them painted because I put them in the attic and promptly forgot about them. Out of sight out of mind, ha.

  5. Cloudy and cool - it sure was a stay-inside day today. I got about 2 inches, so not flooded like you but definitely soggy wet.

Looking forward to seeing your choice for a weathervane!

    1. Soggy wet and cold, ugh. But it's nice for once last cool week before it gets hot. Weathervane coming soon but then I have to borrow a ladder to get up there and put it on, ha.

  6. Love the comments on your photos. Do you use picmonkey or something else? And about rain, I hate it because it slows us down and I love it, because it slows us down.

    1. hi there!! No pic monkey, it's actually just part of the software on the computer. Have an Apple, and in preview, there is a "toolbox" icon that lets you do some limited graphics like shapes and text and frames, things like that.

I love what you said about rain...so true....never thought about it that way. It's a reason to slow down which is good but it's also causing a slowdown of other work and that's no good, ha. Love it!!

  7. I totally agree that the barn is screaming for a vane and a star!

    1. I know, right? They are missing it. A big blank spot. We have the star and the weathervane will be here soon. Now I just need to borrow a tall ladder, ha.

  8. Have you thought of adding a barn quilt? It would be a colorful addition to the place!

  9. 1st Man,

I'm sure the weather-vane and star will look wonderful on your red barn. I have to ask, did you or 2nd Man have an opportunity to get any of the 76 cents per gallon gas being sold in Houston, just outside of the airport over the weekend. I seen on the news lines were very long.
