Napa cabbage. Getting bigger.
Also looks like my "centering skills" were lacking when I planted a few of the seedlings.
Did a little better job of spacing these out. Here are the collards. Doing nicely. We have had a freeze so they should be sweeter now when we do get to harvest them.
And here are the two garlic beds. Wait! What are those? Do you see them there?
Maybe this will help...
We have sprouting!!
Yep, both beds have little green shoots coming up through the straw. I guess this means good things are happening underground. I checked the blog entry for last year and it was the 13th when they came up. I got them in the ground a few days later than last year so we are right on track.

And for today's Thanksgiving yucky foods...
Anyone up for a wonderful treat called
"Frozen Jellied Turkey Vegetable Salad"?
Anyone?
Your veggie beds look wonderful and from the looks of it, you will be well blessed gain this year with garlic.
ReplyDeleteThanks, but No thank you on the "Frozen Jellied Turkey Vegetable Salad". I'll pass.
I do like that table decoration. Easy decoration to put together for display on one's dining table or on the mantel.
'To Plant a Garden is to Believe in Tomorrow'
DeleteActually we never noticed the decoration but you're right that's kind of cool! And easy!
DeleteAnd LOVE the quote. SO true, planting anything is a belief in tomorrow isn't it?
Ewww. Jellied Turkey Vegetable Salad...Frozen. No wonder some of us Baby Boomers did drugs. Apparently there was no other way to get past certain dishes we were served. You know that is one nasty mess. But it is the stuff culinary nightmares are made of. A+ for the yuckiness. Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!!!! That's is a hot mess (or in this case, frozen mess) isn't it? Ha. Thank you so much for the kind words!! Keep coming around!
DeleteNo takers I would imagine for such a salad!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not here. And trust me, we like food, ha.
DeleteAnd did you notice "monosodium glutamate" as an ingredient in the chicken dish?
ReplyDeleteOMG didn't catch that. Wow.
DeleteYour spacing is fine.....the plants simply grew off to the side rather than straight up the center. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
ReplyDeleteAnd we LOVE the way you think!! ;-)
DeleteYes, I threw up in my mouth a bit when I saw that picture of the "Frozen Jellied Turkey Vegetable Salad"! For fun I should bring some to my daughter-in-laws house for Thanksgiving this year. She's a professional chef. I think I'll pretend its NOT a joke.
ReplyDeleteHa, I hear ya. OMG that would have been hilarious. Maybe instead of making it you could write it down and tell her it was a serious idea you came up with and see what she says.
DeleteCongratulations on your garlic sprouting right on schedule. Looks like a bountiful harvest in the coming months. Your cabbage and collards are doing great also.
ReplyDeleteAnd another “appetizing” (not!) Thanksgiving terrible-ness! :)
Everything seems to be on track. We'll see how it all comes out! Thank you! And yes, this is a terrible horror meal, ha.
Deletelooks like cat barf there!
ReplyDeleteHa! Or at least cat food, ha.
