SCREENED IN BACK PORCH DONE NEW HOUSE UPDATE

VOILA!

A couple of you asked last week if we had a back porch...yes we do AND it's screened in!

They finished it by screening it all in.  Well, the screen door and screen support posts still need to be stained, but it's done and fully enclosed now.

Here it is approaching from the back yard.

Here's the screen door from the inside, again it will be stained the same dark cedar color to match. We thought about white stain, but decided to keep the darker cedar wood color to be a bit different.

They repainted the walls white, as we originally wanted, and it looks so much brighter.  Here are the doors that slide open into the living room.  Also, they put in the ceiling fan and two recessed lights.  We'll also have two built in speakers for music and there will be an outdoor wifi range extender so we can work outside.

Here's a view from inside looking to the right.  On this wall we will put our yellow hutch from the old house and fill it with our outdoor dishes and glasses, etc.

...and here it is looking to the left and the screen door.  On that wall by the door, we're putting our marble top baker's table to have a prep area.  Then in the middle, we will put the table and chairs from the old house.

Here's a cool view of the orchard area (soon to be cleaned up and made pretty again, ha).  I think it'll be nice to have breakfast out here on a nice morning.

We should have room to squeeze in a couple of extra chairs for relaxing.

Speaking of the orchard area, here's a view from standing there looking back toward the house (and porch).  Ah, the memories that will be made here!

We can't wait!  It's almost here!

    1. Thanks, we think this will be something we use way more than we realize. Even in this summer heat, it's been cool out there when we've gone out there in the middle of the day. Maybe not want to spend all day out there but it's not bad, ha. And yes, decorating is most of the fun!

  3. What a great place for breakfast and just relaxing. I have two screened patios and very seldom use them. When my husband was still living the patios were used about every day. Now they have too many memories to go out there. I love that you can open up the house and porch into one big area. I see some good times coming your way in this house.

  5. It looks like there is an area under the screen door that will let bugs in because it is not even?

    1. The porch has a slight angle so water that gets in (rain, etc) will not run back toward the house. There will be a threshold thing there on the bottom of the door. Definitely don't want any bugs in (or other things!)

  6. Looking good! Will you have a small porch outside the screen in porch? I think you'll be glad if you add that.

    1. You read my mind, I was telling 2nd Man we should put a deck in that runs along from the screen door along the back of the house. It will be nice to keep it not muddy and give even a bit more space when coming in and out.

  7. I think you will use that back porch the most ... being screened in, you'll be protected from the critters ... walkers and flyers!

    1. Yep, we think so too. And as I mentioned in another comment, it's not that warm out there even on the hottest of days. The fan really creates a breeze and we have some nice breezes most of the time just from the natural weather. We'll see how it goes! I DO foresee some meals out there, even if just the two of us. A nice place in the morning to sit and read the paper with some breakfast.
