Stopped at a thrift store the other day at lunch and found this nice crocheted afghan. I often see afghans and throws but as you know, they can be made in any number of color combinations. It's just one of those things where you want to find the one that appeals to you most. This one did.
Multi color crocheted afghan |
We liked the bright colors of this one because we were hoping they would add a pop of color to the living room at the farm.
Afghan on couch |
So the last time we were out there, we put it over the back of the couch and sure enough, it's a nice and colorful addition. I'm thinking of maybe replacing the flower pillows that came with the couch with something as colorful as the afghan. We love the farm themed pillows we found so those will stay, but I think it's needs a bit more color, don't you?
Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteSeems the black works... Maybe replace the flower pillows with a black pattern?
ReplyDeleteI thought the black was nice too, it makes the farm pillows stand out. Good idea! Thanks!
DeleteI love the afghan. When I was younger I enjoyed making granny squares, but not so much now. The multicoloured yarn is a stroke of genius.

Granny Squares!! I wondered what that was called. Thank you for that. I often see these and wonder how much work was put into them, who did it, why, where, etc. But it has a forever home now, ha.
DeleteIt looks great. I have always admired those who have lovely sophisticated colour schemes, their rooms look so beautiful and perfect but I am a messy colour girl, the more colour the better. I think some matching colour side cushions will balance the brightness of the rug perfectly...........and everything goes great with gold!.........(It is gold isn't it?)
ReplyDeleteMessy color girl, I like that! I guess I'm a messy color guy, ha. The couch is a sort of beige-y color, hard to describe. Thanks for the suggestion!
DeleteOk, I'm a color fan so I agree about rainbow colored pillows to match! A great thrift store find BTW.
ReplyDeleteThank you much!!! I knew when I saw it that we had to have it, ha. Now I'll be looking for pillows, ha.
DeleteOh yes! Colored pillows will look great. What I do is take the pillow and put it inside the cover I find. It beats buying a new form for a pretty pillow. Plus, it preserves the old pillow for maybe a future use. I love the cow pillow.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a good idea, then you keep the same size and shape and you don't have to spend more than you need to. I guess i just need to measure them the next time I'm out there.
DeleteIsn't the cow pillow cute? The other couch (loveseat) has a chicken pillow and a multi farm animal pillow. :-)
That is a beautiful couch !
ReplyDeleteWell thank you! We found it at a local store called "The Dump". Strange name but it's all brand new furniture but discontinued lines, closeouts, etc from all sorts of name brand stores. We liked it because it looked kind of like the old 'ticking' that was on mattresses and such.
DeleteOh yes, that colorful afghan was just what the couch needed. And with some pops of color for some of the pillows - that will accentuate the gorgeous afghan!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely huh? I'm on the hunt for colorful pillows now....stay tuned! :-)
