COLD WET AND DREARY

Went to the farm to check on things, it was damp and cold...

And dark and dreary...

And while it definitely looks and feels more like Winter than it has in the last few weeks, this plum tree has other plans...

It's got four or five blooms on it!  Oops!  I guess it will figure things out soon enough.  I need to check the weather forecast for the next week or so and see what is coming (or not).

As for us, I'm feeling better but 2nd Man is sick now.

More later today, just got back into town from the farm and need to do a few things around here.  But this weather calls for me to just get under the covers and read a book.  And I am currently reading a good one I'll review soon.

Hope your weekend is going better!

  4. Don't forget about the wind. Besides being cold, it's also very windy here.
All of the outside cats around have taken cover in our cat houses that we built a couple of years ago and are bedded with straw so they should be all nice and cozy warm in their housing environment plus they have plenty of food and water in case they decide to venture out in this weather.
Stay warm and 2nd ; hope you get to feeling better real soon.

  6. I am afraid of what spring will bring here too. We have many way too early blooming trees. I would like it to go ahead and get cold and quit teasing us with the warm temps.

Hope everyone feels much better soon.

  7. Yep, it’s been a stay-inside-and-stay-warm day - a 180 change from yesterday’s beautiful warm sun.
One of my peach trees is blooming. My Viburnum hedge is also blooming - it smells so good. But I’m afraid those blooms may be shocked out of existence if we get a freeze :( .
    Hope 2nd Man feels better.

  9. I just love the first buds. Here it is going to be dreary and a bit colder. For some reason I slept horribly on Friday night and had a nightmare on waking this morning. Your place looks as dreary as it is up here.

  10. I have added a link below so try this soup....it makes us feel better if we even think we might be coming down with something. We have a mystery bush here with flowers a bit like a cross between roses and hibiscus except it is frost hardy!

  12. 1st Man,

Good to hear you're feeling better. I'm sorry to hear 2nd Man is not well. The old saying, when one family member is sick the others are going to get it too. Make sure 2nd Man gets plenty of fluids, and rest.

As for your tree's showing blossoms, I think this weather has the tree's and birds so confused :-)
