RACE DAY

Staying in town today, even though I have more rooms to do at the farm (update on progress tomorrow). There is rain on the radar too.  But I'm really staying in because it's NASCAR race day.  The Daytona 500 to be specific.  As this posts, the race is about to start.  We are big fans.  Well not crazy like we dress up or paint Jimmy Johnson's car number on our chests, LOL, but we do enjoy it.

Not sure what it is that's appealing to us, probably the personalities of the drivers, the cars look cool, the speed, and yes, the occasional crash.  There is a racetrack here in Texas, just North of Dallas, one of these days we'll have to make a trip up there to see a race in person.  We understand there is nothing like seeing a race in person.

Hope you are having a great weekend, even though it's almost over!
Back to work tomorrow.

That Chase Elliot has the pole position has been the constant conversation for the last couple of days. (I don't type well in my iPad. Sorry for the break.)

Yup, I'm staying home as well to watch the big race. I started watching Nascar when Bill Elliott first started racing back in 1976, driving a car owned by his dad. Gosh, that has been alooooooong time ago. His son is racing now so I gotta be in favor of his son, Chase who by which is on the pole for today. :}

Chase was one of the reasons I watched the race. I followed his dad for years. To bad Chase got bumped out after 7 or 8 laps.
It was a very close finish, haven't seen that in a while.

Bill Elliot was one of my Mom's favorite drivers. We were rooting for Chase today, too bad about how it came out. But there are dozens more races this season!!

That's cool! My Dad was a big fan and I think that's how my Mom and I came along for the ride (no pun intended, ha). Was hoping for the best for Chase. Darn it!!

Wow, what a finish, right? Now that was THE definition of a photo finish for sure! Good start to the season but too bad about Chase. And he had the pole! Dang. Hoping for the best in upcoming races!

we are fans here, too. one of my kitties is called punkinator, a combo of punkin and intimidator, in honor/memory of dale earnhardt (the elder). this year, we're rooting for rookie ryan blaney, son of longtime racer dave, who is originally from this area. --suz in ohio

Hello! Dale Sr was my Dad's favorite driver. He was heartbroken when Dale was killed...
