YELLOW BENCH, INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Every Thursday, we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm.
Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and hopefully recreate it...enjoy!

We've been shopping for benches online (side note, some kind person sent us some links once for an online company that sold very affordable benches, we lost it, if you read this, please send again).  I told 2nd Man we need to have places to sit, not necessarily for guests, but for US, or perhaps I should say ME!  I find when I'm an acre or two away from the house and get tired, I really have no choice but to walk back to the porch.  It would be nice to have a spot to sit back and observe.

We like this style of bench and figured we'd have to paint it.  While we like the blues we've seen online, we love this yellow.  I could really see this in a couple of spots at the farm (one I'm clearing now).  I'd like one by the bee yard too.

Be inspired!

  1. Beautiful bright yellow bench but one thing I have found; red and yellow really fade when sitting outside

I did find a few links for you to look through for ideas.

    1. My queen of google! Thank you!!!!!!!

The two spots where we want one immediately are well shaded so maybe they'll squeek out an extra season or so, ha.

  2. Wanted to mention that if you decide on a wooden bench you might want to consider one that is made from teak wood. Teak will last much longer and is made to be out in the weather.

    1. Ah, yes, Teak is the material they use on boats for wooden surfaces, right? Thanks!

  6. I love that yellow bench! I can see some variegated ginger planted around it - it has stripes of green and yellow and is very easy care.
For me, I have several concrete benches around my yard and 2 in my garden. They sure are nice for taking a little break and admiring all you've done and planning what to do next.
I had some wooden benches - but they rotted after a few years.

  8. Love the idea and the color. If you put one by the bees are you going to paint it yellow with black stripes? That would be cool!

  9. that is a lovely color and the bench is a good sturdy looking comfortable one, its nice to have different spots to sit and ponder or look at all the work we have yet to do lol,, but mostly to enjoy what has been done, my husband always liked to sit and look at the lawn after he finished cutting the grass, he said it gave him a great sense of satisfaction, we had a few spots to sit, all our chairs and benches were left untreated,, I love this burst of color you chose much better!

    1. Thank you, you know what? That's what I want to do, after I mow I'd like to sit and look at it, from somewhere other than the porch, ha. It does give a sense of satisfaction. Thanks!!
