So today was up and out to the farm after that awesome breakfast (see this morning's post). I knew when I left though that it might not be a full day because I was starting to get a headache.
But I pushed through...
Got to the farm and a neighbors goat had gotten into the yard through the fence and chewed off a branch of the pear tree...
I chased it back through the fence and then had to do emergency barbed wire repair...
Cleaned up the empty beehive and had to fend off curious bees who were attracted to the old beeswax...
Started weeding in the garden, got stung by fire ants...
Didn't finish all the beds in the garden...
Didn't work on the porch...
AND...
Black Widow Spider |
SHE'S BAAAAACK!!!!!
(but this time I got a much better picture with the brilliant red hourglass...)
I came back home early for the day...
Update later with pics of the day...
Oh, the fire ants sting lasts about thirty minutes. If you already have another black widow, you better spray outside and in.
ReplyDeleteYep, and now today i have those ugly pimple looking bumps. I think this was the same black widow, but yeah, going to take care of that this coming weekend.
DeleteNot good.
ReplyDeleteI hope your headache has eased off.
Thanks! It didn't ease off until late night but now 2nd Man is sick. Sigh.
DeleteI hope you did everyone who visits you at the farm a favor and terminated the spider or is it now your new pet? :-)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Too funny!! 2nd Man said almost the same thing. He goes "um, WHY are you not killing it? It will lay about 100 more!" Dispatched....
DeleteThe Return of the Black Widow Spider - double Yikes!! (Scary photo!)
ReplyDeleteAnd biting Fire Ants too!
And a passel of other troubles :(
So sorry that you had such a Terrible, Horrible, No-good, Very Bad Day at the Farm. Hope tomorrow is better!
LOL, that was a great way to describe it for sure, that made me laugh out loud.
Deletewhat a hectic combination! hope you feel better this morning!
ReplyDeleteToday was better but 2nd Man is sick. It's always something. Pics tomorrow!
Deletethis too shall pass.
ReplyDeleteAmen... :-)
DeleteThat spider freaks me out. She's beautiful in her own way, but I wouldn't want to see her. You are brave to get close enough to take that picture.
ReplyDeleteI zoomed in a bit and she is a beauty, in a scary sort of way.
DeleteHope you feel better today. Yikes, that spider is scary!!!
ReplyDeleteBetter, and yep, definitely a scary thing to be so close to something so deadl
DeleteYikes - that would have sent me running...for the door, not the camera! :)
ReplyDeleteIt didn't catch me off guard this time so I was prepared, ha.
DeleteOK,, all I can think of is that spider, yikes!!
ReplyDeleteI do not like spiders, or snakes, I know hey are helpful and all that but I secretly hope that snake of yours and this spider have a duel!
Never to be seen again!
I must tell you my daughter Kelly made your biscuits this morning and she said they are great! Its the first time she used that technique,, beautiful biscuits, thank you for sharing!
LOL I wonder who WOULD win that battle? Ha.
DeleteSo sweet about the biscuits, I will tell 2nd Man he will be so happy to hear that!
A series of unfortunate events, to be sure! Hope your day got a bit better?
ReplyDeleteWe live in northern GA (Athens to be precise) and black widows tend to be found frequently in our yard but I'm happy to have them since they eat lots of harmful bugs. :) If they get too out of hand then I release the guineas and let them do the natural cleanup...
It did, eventually, ha. I didn't know they ate bad bugs? Good to know. We don't have guineas but maybe I could borrow 2nd Family's chickens, ha.
