CHICKEN GIFT

One of my very sweet coworkers brought this to me the other day and said it was a gift for the farm.  It's an awesome, carved wooden chicken and I promised her a post showing it in all its glory.  It has a wonderful distressed finish and so we knew exactly where it would go at the farm...

...on top of the yellow hutch in the kitchen!  She looks perfectly at home up there, watching over the things we cook.  Rumor has it, there is another one, in a different color, that she is currently looking for.

Thank you very much "S", we love it!

TGIF!

  1. What a lovely and thoughtful gift and looks perfect sitting up there. Looks like it will be keeping a very watchful eye on you making sure that there's no fried coming out of the kitchen :}
    Your little brass squirrel is just as adorable.

      We love it and have used it for a nice bag of pecans that someone gave us.

  2. I have one almost exactly like that! Mine is not up on legs, he's sitting and painted dark colors. But I love him.

  3. What a kind colleague you have and what a wonderful gift for the farm. However, I think "she" is actually a handsome "he", a rooster judging by the comb and wattles! He certainly looks good standing up there and surveying his domain!

    2. Yep, rooster, dang it. But hey, if we get another, we'll have two roosters. Somehow that fits huh? LOL!!!! Thank you!

  4. That looks great! It is wonderful hen. I keep looking for a hen for my kitchen. All I can find are roosters! Unfortunately, I only have a penguin that my friend took from a barn yard sale. The guy pried if off the barn wall.
