PATRIOTIC FLOWER BEDS, INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm.
Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!

This was supposed to post last week (closer to the 4th) but I got the dates backwards, oh well, better late than never.  Anyway, while looking at flowerbed ideas, we saw these and thought it was a cool "someday" idea.  It's such a neat thing to do, plant flowers that are in colors for a holiday, especially the 4th of July.  What a great idea.

So pretty, especially if you had company coming over, how neat it would be to have at least a flower bed devoted to something like this.  Hmm, I wonder about having a dedicated "holiday" bed in the yard?  Red, white and blue for Summer, maybe yellows and pinks for Easter and Spring, orange and yellows in Autumn?  Could be kind of fun.

Be inspired!

  1. That is how we theme our flower boxes. I should take a photo and post.

  2. That is really cool. I like the idea of making a flowerbed that you just rotate colors for various holidays.

    1. It is kinda cool huh? Though I really like the idea of smaller scale flower boxes under windows.

  3. 1st Man,

Celebrating our freedoms by planting red, white, and blue flowers at the farm is a wonderful way to show your appreciation year round :-)

    1. I like the way you think! Keep it red white and blue. And hey, the Texas lone star flag is red white and blue as well. Thank you!!!!

  4. Instead of having an occasion closet, you would have an occasion flower bed. I especially like the first bed. However, it would mean lots of down-on-your-knees time. And, what would you do with the flowers you dug up? You could have a bed devoted to the flowers you removed each time. Maybe?

    1. Hmm, good points and I like it. Let them live out their lives in another bed that would be full of lots of color at some point. Thanks!!!

  5. Another pretty idea for a flowerbed! Planting annuals would make it easy to change out color themes, like in the top flower bed. The bottom one looks like it has some perennials mixed in with annuals, so it might have to be a more permanent bed.

    1. Ah, thanks for that observation. Yeah, if it was a turn around bed for each season/holiday, it would have to be annuals. Thank you!

    1. You know, something like this would make for a beautiful flower bed with large flag pole based in the center of circle bed
