THANKSGIVING EVE

Twas the day before Thanksgiving and all through the house...oh wait, that's for a different holiday.

We're staying in and having a Thanksgiving for two, and we're 100% OK with that.  We had thought about having it at the farm, but the weather has turned cold and without heat out there, it might not be that enjoyable 'post meal' to sit around in the cold, ha.

Today, I have to work but 2nd Man is off and he is doing some pre-cooking.  A pecan pie and yeast rolls and probably the cornbread for the dressing.  When I get home tonight, I'll make one of our favorites, sausage balls, for us to snack on over the coming days.

Saw this and it made us laugh:

Poor turkey.
But he sure is good!

We hope you all have gotten everything you need and are preparing to have a great holiday tomorrow.

Any big plans or others with quiet plans?

  3. It is a quiet day for us, just the two of us and that is enough. Tommy just put the pumpkin pies in the oven. I figured out I forgot to put sugar in them. Well, I will just mash it into my piece of hot spicy pumpkin pie. I will mash some sugar into the other pie and the one we eat from tonight. It will look awful all mushed up. But, will be delicious. On Thanksgiving Day, I will make the green bean casserole. Everything else is baked and frozen and will go into the refrigerator tonight.

It is so cold here, I cannot imagine leaving and going to an unheated house. I think your decision to stay home is a great decision.

  5. Happy Thanksgiving. I do enjoy reading your blog, seeing the cat, the recipes and you sharing your lives with me. I will be home tomorrow; I have had invitations but just want to enjoy a nice restful day. I am cat sitting for three weeks for my grand cat and she is very good company and always ready to take a nap with me.

  6. Just the 2 of us so spending a nice quiet day at home watching the Cowboys football game.
Hubby wanted pizza for today; ( who am I to argue with that decision?) :-} along with a little wine and of course his pumpkin pie & cool whip to go along with. Picked up a couple of large pizza's at the deli yesterday; so no miss and easy clean-up and using the good China ( Chinet paper plates)
    ThanksGiving . . .
    is a time we remember
the good things and loved ones who grace our lives.

Wishing everyone a Very Happy and Blessed day.
    If traveling; do be safe.

  7. Late as usual but Happy Thanksgiving boys!! After reading what others do, mainly on Bears in the Kitchen group on FB, I feel extremely lazy for picking up Thai take away and reheating for TG dinner .. we both thought it was great!! Old age and retirement does have it's benefits.
