BAD WEATHER STAYING IN THIS WEEKEND

It has a been a wild week of weather (try saying that three times fast, ha).  We've been cold, warm, hot, humid, dry, windy, I think we've had all the seasons.  But no white Christmas this year.

What we did have was a lot of rain and severe weather around the area.

"J" from 2nd Family sent this picture to us.  She sent it and simply said "so, um, it rained..."

Ha!  About 3 inches.  This is her front yard.  We're lucky, at our end of the property (2 acres behind her where this picture was taken), we are higher up and all the water goes down the driveway toward the road (unfortunately her direction).  They are taking this into account and will be building our slab slightly higher than normal just to make sure.

But that wasn't all the severe weather we had...there were also FIVE confirmed (by the National Weather Service) tornadoes in the area.  Thankfully, it all stayed to the South and East of where the farm is, but this is crazy weather for Christmas for sure.  Heck, you saw the picture the other day from a few years back when we had snow...this year, tornadoes!  Crazy times!

As I was typing this post, we received a tornado warning for the farm.  We called "J" and she said it was dark and scary but it was just on the other side of the property and moving away.

Needless to say, staying in town today.  My plan was to mow and water.  Due to an excess of the latter, I can't do the former!  "J" is going to check on our plants to make sure they didn't blow around but they are shielded by the barn on one side and part of the truck on the other so they should be ok.  And well watered.

2nd Man says we need to start going through cabinets and closets here in the apartment to prepare for an easy move, but I say we wait until after the first of the year, seems like a good resolution, ha!

In the meantime, we'll keep an eye on the sky.

  1. That is A lot of water. Was a good day to stay off the roads and to stay home to take a nice cat nap. Was wondering how things were down your way. Good to hear that everyone is safe down your way.
We had thunderstorms all morning, lots of lightening and some heavy rain; just over 3 inches. The storms finally moved through around 12:30.
Enjoy the rest of the day and have a great evening.

  2. Lots of water! It’s a good thing it drains away from your home site.
Good idea y’all stayed in town this weekend. The weather has been pretty bad the past several days. In my area, there was a tornado. It damaged some barns but thankfully no injuries.
