VINTAGE POSTER SUNDAY, FREEDOM FROM WANT

Norman Rockwell Freedom From Want vintage poster
Love this Norman Rockwell painting that was used during the war effort.  "Ours...to Fight For, Freedom From Want".  It was part of a series of works based on the "Four Freedoms" that President Roosevelt spoke about in the months leading up to our involvement in the war.

Perfect for Thanksgiving, and always.  Don't we all strive to have freedom from want?  I believe the more self sufficient we become, the less we want.

It's the last day of our long weekend, and I'm still sick.  It was a complete wasted of a good four days off, sigh.  I'm feeling a bit better.  Been doing the Vick's with socks and it works great.  I was out of it for one day, but got some yesterday and used it all day. It really works.  Weirdest thing.

It's finally warming up a bit here but another blast is coming later in the week.  We'll see how it turns out.

  2. My dad was a big believer in Vicks as well except the crazed man would make us EAT it! Yes, eat it. I became a nurse just to save myself. Hope you feel better soon and great poster.

    1. Donna,
My sister would put it in her mouth when she was tiny. She would hold it there for a long time and finally swallow it. Yuck.

  5. Grandmother 70 years back taught us the Vicks and sock remedy; also use it on the chest with a flannel cloth. Old remedies often work better than modern medicine. All too often, anymore, antibiotics are prescribed for any and all ailments.

I'll be a regular reader now that I've found you. Never too late to learn new things, even if I am OLD, decrepit and crawling. You know that saying: "It's NOT over 'til the fat lady sings"? LOL

Had to delete the last two! "WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COMPUTER"?, I ask.
