Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm. Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!
We have two stumps on the property and we really like this idea. Hollow out the top a bit, put some soil in and some flowers, plant a few around the base and done. Of course after a year or two of flowers in the stump with the soil and watering etc, I'm sure the stump would start to rot away.
But for a period of time, an eyesore would become something pretty and eye-catching.
Be inspired!

Makes for a pretty decor in the yard. Our son-in-lw had a few stumps on his property.
ReplyDeleteI told him if he bought the flowers he wanted that I would plant them for him in his stumps providing he would hollow them out a bit. Some I planted flowers in and some I planted flowers in shallow containers and just sat them up on the stump. I even added a shallow bird bath / water saucer on one of the stumps for the birds.
If you didn't want to add dirt and plant flowers inside; just hollow out the stump and set a potted plant inside.

DeleteTalking about hollowing out tree stumps, you can do the same with a large tree log / trunk; hollow out the center the length of the lag and plant away. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/79/89/57/798957c7e333b4da0f4d975b7a37a5db.jpg

Or just drill a hole in the center of the stump and insert a solar light for an added touch to your flower beds.
That would be a beautiful way to take an unattractive item and make it into a showplace! Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat is a good use for a stump!
