It's been a quiet weekend again, which is nice. Sometimes we need those, especially in the chaos leading up to Christmas.
Heirloom tomatoes |
When I was at the store the other day I saw another batch of heirloom tomatoes and I couldn't resist taking my phone out and getting a picture. I love taking pictures of produce when it's all stacked up. In these days of personal shoppers and click and pick up at grocery stores, it doesn't look odd for me to be taking pictures of food, ha. I just love the colors and shapes of heirloom tomatoes.
Steak with Alfredo gnocchi |
For dinner last night, 2nd Man made potato gnocchi in an Alfredo cream sauce and grilled steaks. We also cracked open a bottle of rose wine. It was so good.
Hobart the cat |
And as happens on any Sunday...or Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday...Hobart is in a ray of sunshine doing what cats do best. Sleeping.
Hope you all are having a great weekend!
Yum! I want a dinner invitation to your home :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I looked at your tomato photo , I thought wouldn't it make a fun jig-saw puzzle. There are beautiful all stacked like that.
Wishing you both a very nice Christmas.
Come on by! Ha. Oh wow that would make a great puzzle! Hmm...you're giving me ideas for gifts, ha. Thanks!! Merry Christmas to you!
DeleteThat would be great to have it made into a puzzle and then framed to hang on your kitchen wall. Great idea Connie.
DeleteI would SO gain weight eating 2nd man's dee-lish food! and darling hobart has the right idea; think I'll go take a nap right now...
ReplyDeleteIt's good for sure! Yep, that cat loves his sleepy time.
DeleteInteresting that in the sunlight Hobart is as much brown as he is black furred. Is his undercoat brown or is the brown reflected sunlight? Roderick
ReplyDeleteAs I look over at him it's black for sure. But yeah in the sunlight it takes on a brown tinge. When we brush him and pull the hair off the brush it's always black too. It's the oddest thing. But there are times in the sun where it does appear brown. Not sure why that is.
DeleteYour dinner looks good but it's missing something green - vegetables?
ReplyDeleteThank you and um....yeah....we did miss the green there. does the parsley count? Ha, just kidding. You know we usually have broccolini or peas or green beans, I think we just forgot. :-)
DeleteI love heirloom tomatoes, taste so good even though many are funny looking. I still have two left from my garden.
ReplyDeleteAren't they wonderful? I like the ones that are ribbed and wavy. So unusual. And nothing beats fresh from the garden! Thanks for stopping by!!
DeleteThe picture of the heirloom tomatoes is pretty enough to be framed. I love heirlooms for their beautiful variety.
ReplyDeleteYum, another delicious supper made by 2nd Man.
Hobart really does know how to relax and enjoy his moments in the sun.
I took one last year (had more reds/oranges in it) and thought the same thing. Might make nice kitchen art pictures. They are so many varieties they are all beautiful (and delicious!). Thank you!
DeleteI have always thought the fruit and vegetable pictures would make great kitchen art.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo of the tomatoes. Love it. Great for wall hanging. Such a good looking meal.
ReplyDeleteYep, that tomato photo needs to be mounted on canvas and hung in your kitchen.
Mounting a photo on canvas is actually pretty easy if you do it yourself just by using Mod Podge. or gel medium or take the photo to Walgreens and I also think that WalMart does it as well & have them mount it for you on canvas.
I have mounted items on canvas before using any photos; family photos, etc.

I think if you can find a place; that tomato photo would also be great on kitchen T-towels.
oh yum...that looks so good!
