OK, here it is! What you've been waiting for:
The reveal of the exterior painting!

Behold! This is the front.
It's not QUITE finished...keep in mind, all the wood details you see (the corbels, the wood above the windows, and the porch posts) will be painted white to match the house trim. The porch railing will be also be white, but it goes on at the end to make it easier for workers in and out. The garage door will also be white. Oh and there will be white shutters on each side of the windows on the front.

Walking around, another view of the front porch from the garage side. Again, porch railing and the front door will be 8' feet tall and black with wavy glass.

Walking around to the back, this is the grilling and cooking porch and the back door into the garage.

Continuing along the back, you can see the future screened-in porch and where the screen door will be on the end. The windows on the far left are the dining room and these two windows on the right side are the master bedroom.

Continuing on around, here is the other end of the house. The window is the master bathroom shower. Too bad this doesn't convey the height...that window is 7 feet off the ground. It almost feels like a two story house on the end when yo stand there. I guess there will lots of space to stand up in the attic, at least there!
Here is a closeup of the roof. It's a premium shingle, mildly impact resistant (hail) and the color is black onyx. We asked about black roofs and they said with the insulation, radiant barrier decking and the way homes are built these days, it's not a big deal to put on a darker roof. So we went with the aesthetic look for the rest of the house.
We will put on our own gutters. Well, I mean, we have to pick someone and they do it, the builder doesn't provide them. So that's coming up at some point.
They only made one mistake; the interior of the screened in porch was painted the same exterior barn red color. We want this to be the white we chose for the trim. That way, from the interior, you will only see it as another extension of the interior rooms that will be also be white. We don't have to decorate the inside around a barn red color that you can see from the living room, ha. They'll be redoing that this week, we're just waiting on weather.
It all looks beautiful and exactly what we imagined and hoped for, dreams coming true!
On the next post, we'll show the porch ceilings.
Oh, my ... it is beautiful!
ReplyDeletePretty darn nice. Looks like you picked a good builder.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding!
ReplyDeleteWow! Congratulations...I can't believe how quickly it's happening. You must be thrilled, and it looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt’s so beautiful! I love the design and lines of it. It’s going to be wonderful living in your dream house in the country!
ReplyDeleteLove the progress on your new farmhouse and that shade of red is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHaving lived in Waco for 10 hot years, I suggests you consider planting shade trees, especially on the east and west of the house, but not so close they could be a hazard. Your a/c cost and screened porch with thank you. Word of warning based on our experience: do not plant Arizona Ash trees because they grow quickly but rot from the inside and split after about 20 years. We had two in front our our Waco home and lost both due to the rot and short tree life.
Hugs!
Stunning!
ReplyDeleteWhen the porch rails and trim are all painted white, it will POP.
So very excited for you both.
Hugs,
Jo
It’s absolutely beautiful-so happy for you both! (And it’s only what Hobart deserves;))
ReplyDeleteIt's a real house now! Love it! One mistake that is easily remedied is not a bad thing. Could have been like our addition when they changed the entire floor plan of the pool bathroom.
ReplyDeleteI HAVE NO WORDS! That is stunning, Just stunning, I can't even imagine how happy you both are. Wow. So pretty. L- Janie V
ReplyDeleteLurker here, (but read every day) , and I have to say, I've never seen such a pretty color on a house it looks absolutely perfect. My homeowners association would freak out but damn if I wouldn't be tempted after seeing this, haha. Enjoy the process.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I think all is perfect. I love seeing what you are doing, and the builder must be very in demand. He is doing a great job and moving along very quickly. I am so happy to see your dream house being built. I can see a nice Thanksgiving dinner in that dining room.
ReplyDeleteFirst time ever commenting but I've been reading you guys for years. I couldn't wait to see the house and wow, it blew away my expectations. Just amazing and so beautiful. Even not completely finished (but like someone above said when the white gets on there it will pop) and be stunning. Enjoy and can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
