UTILITY SINK FOR MUDROOM

Tabco Utility Sink
We have been searching for a utility sink for the mudroom, and wanted the right one.  Last year, we thought we had found it but we held off.  Now we really did find it!  We scoped out our local restaurant supply store last Saturday on a whim when it was raining (and nothing to do outside at the farm) and found one on sale. It was a floor model so we got a great deal on it.  They had the faucet for it and we got that as well. Here is the "official picture" from the website.

This is the spot where it's going.  It's in the mud room where "Ma" (the previous owner) had her washing machine.  That means there is already hot and cold water and a drain in that spot.  It will need some minor plumbing work, but we'll work on that later, for now we have the sink and that's what we wanted most.

Here it is after we took it out there yesterday and set it in its spot.  Yay!  I can't wait to add some shelves above it, maybe some hooks to hang things, and then we'll have a great sink area for filling large pots, washing hands when coming in from outside, and rinsing produce from the garden.  Hope to get this installed in a couple of weeks.

  1. That was the very first thing we did at our home when we moved in. Love having a deep sink to fill watering cans/wash up/and even works well for rinsing off shoes.
Yours looks very nice-hope you enjoy many fine years of use.

    1. You know, of all the houses I've lived in growing up (and we moved around a lot) and our house now, I've never had one of these big sinks. I know it's not hooked up yet but oh my, it's going to be SO nice. I never thought about shoe (and boot) rinsing, great idea. And watering cans for the future plants on the porch, great idea!

    1. I'm not sure it's a REAL mudroom, but I guess it is by definition? It's a way to get into the house from the porch without coming into the house first so I guess it is? It's got the fridge and then shelves for the pantry and now this sink.

  3. That is one beautiful utility sink! We have two of the basic type here. One in the shop for Tramp 1 and one in the laundry area of the house. I would very much like to replace the one in house with something better. When Tramp 1's sink was new, he would bring his dirty BBQ grates/grills, etc. to wash in the one I consider to be mine because he didn't want to get his dirty! Not anymore - stopped that for sure!!

    1. I'd love to have one someday in the (future) barn. I hope with just one we can keep it clean, LOL! Time will tell I suppose. Washing grill stuff is a great idea too! ;-)

  5. I would love a sink like this, and a mud room, and a house to go with it, we sold our house and retired to an apartment!

  6. My mud room is called the bathroom. I have put shoes in there and generally traipsed through the house when I needed something closer to the door. I can see this with shelves and produce. I do have a double sink in the basement, a 100-year-old sink. It is highly unuseful.

That is a pretty sink and might look good on my side porch!

    1. thanks! I have to admit that the thought of a 100 yr old sink sounds awesome (as does a 'basement', none of those in this neck of the woods, ha). Definitely shelves above and some other stuff around it. That's going to be as much fun as having the sink. Hey, stainless can be outside on the porch and be just fine! I'm just sayin, haha.

    1. It's funny, having never had one, I mentioned to 2nd Man that 'hey, it will be a great place to come in with muddy shoes and take them off before tracking into the house" and he replied "um, no, you can take them off outside and clean them there". I then asked him where he thought the name "mudroom" came from, ha. Thanks again, can't wait to be able to use it.

  8. Very handsome it is too :) Here, in South Africa, we tend to have outdoor basins - couldn't imagine my life without one...

  9. Oh I love your new sink! We call them "slop" sinks - but your sink is too pretty to call a slop sink!

    1. Ha, a "slop sink"? I actually like that. Sure it's not a very pretty word but it makes sense, ha. Maybe I won't use that word with visitors, but I might just use it between ourselves, ha.
