All of our planning has paid off...we have the kitchen we've always wanted! All appliances were put in so here's a tour.
Stepping into the kitchen, here is where it starts. Some cool floating shelves, 2nd Man wants to put some of our prettiest sets of mixing bowls here, vintage and new.
Dishwasher is in. It's always fun to have a brand new dishwasher to use for the first time.
Next to that is one of 2nd Man's dreams...
...a farmhouse sink. It's huge and deep and for the first time in 26 years together, we have a single basin sink, no divider in the middle. He can't wait to wash pans in here! At least that's what he said, ha.
Coming around from there, here is the side, and you can see lots of storage. Look! A glimpse of the floor!
Then, here is 2nd Man's pride and joy...or maybe the second pride and joy (more on that next). It's a 36" induction cooktop. We've had induction at the apartment for a couple of years and we LOVE it. We don't have gas out there so it's the next best thing. For those that haven't cooked with induction, it's amazing how fast water boils. And the heat, because it's heating the pot and not the cooktop, is instant on and instant off. Being 36", we have plenty of of room for multiple pots and pans and there is even a bridge section for a griddle or long pans. Above that the pot filler he has always wanted and a really nice (and powerful) vent hood with lightning. We also love how the tile backsplash came out.
Moving on down, lots more counter space and storage and then...
This! It might be 2nd Man's main pride and joy. We definitely upgraded here to give him the double ovens he has always dreamed of. The normal plan has the oven microwave combo but we decided to have them put in the double ovens.
Here they are opened. They are convection (for his baking) and have other awesome features like air frying, steam cooking and even dehydrating. It should be an awesome appliance to have.
Next to the ovens will be the refrigerator. We're getting the same brand so handles and style matches the other appliances throughout the kitchen.
Standing on the inside of the of the island...
Check this out! I got my wine fridge!
Here it is on the inside. It holds 52 bottles of wine! You can also use one shelf to put in canned sodas if you want but we'll have a garage fridge for that. This will be nice to have and we've already preordered some wine (two cases of a dozen each) that are all assorted: whites, reds, rosé, moscatos, even some sparkling. That will only be 24, we have lots more space, ha.
And on the other end, THERE is the missing microwave!
But wait, it's not just a microwave...
...it's a microwave/CONVECTION OVEN combo! So we now have third smaller oven in the kitchen!?! This will be nice for small batch baking, cookies, a pan of brownies, etc. There will be a learning curve for sure!
Here's a view of the other size of the island. Glass front cabinets (that will also be lit) for our collection of enamel cookware. At the end you can see the overhang we added where we will put a couple of stools and I can sit there and blog while 2nd Man is cooking or snap beans or we can even sit there and eat dinner without having to take it to the table. It's the perfect kitchen for us and we got everything we ever wanted.
OH the meals that will be cooked in here!

Be still my beating heart! That kitchen is simply a dream! We are all going to have kitchen envy!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! We are so exciting and happy to share with everyone.
DeleteAdorable! Just like a small boy showing off his new toys. You will be neglecting outdoor life with -the mowing tractor - your previous fave - for indoor life with three or sit four ovens. Bless you! Roderick
ReplyDeleteLOL right? OH I'm exciting for the outdoor stuff because now I can do it whenever I want, morning, after work, part one day and part the next, right before the rain, etc. It will be so nice and then I can COME INSIDE where it's cool and there will be good food waiting, ha!
DeleteYou definitely have a dream kitchen. It would be a pleasure to cook in a kitchen like that. I'm so jealous. :) I know you two will enjoy it. Wanda aka Galestorm from NC
ReplyDeleteThanks, we will enjoy for sure, we've worked hard to get here. We can't wait to keep sharing!
DeleteEvery cooks dream kitchen. Your contractor done a Wonderful job in making all your dreams come true.
ReplyDeletePictures of your kitchen needs to be published in a popular home magazine.
You All have a Wonderful and safe weekend.
They really did well. We have no complaints. Anything that has come up was just minor. In the end we ended up with our dream house and we couldn't be happier.
DeleteWow, that looks so awesome. I see lots of lighting too. And under counter lighting. You didn't put in pendants, I like that idea. They always got in the way for me. Beautiful home, you guys deserve it.
ReplyDeleteYes, we added extra lights and we swapped out the undercabinet for LED lighting that we can change the white color on (bright white to warm). And yes, you noticed no pendants. We have had them in our apartments and found they only get in the way. They look neat but we like the more open look. We might get a hanging pendant for over the sink at some point. Thanks!!
DeleteYour kitchen is gorgeous. You will enjoy that space for many years to come.
ReplyDeleteThanks, we sure plan on it!
DeleteYou are getting close to having a finished house. Do you have a move in date?
ReplyDeleteDoes the kitchen window over the sink look out on the screen porch? If so you can have it open and pass stuff out through there.
It is, for all practical purposes, finished. Closing is coming soon, they are still working on the date but I'll put it this way: We are packing. :-)
DeleteThe kitchen window doesn't open but it faces out onto the front porch.
Absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks!!
DeleteWonderful! Might you both need roller skates to move around that huge space?!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
It is bigger than we've had, though not as big as it could have been if we had gone REALLY crazy, LOL!
DeleteI think you covered every dream in this kitchen; it is a kitchen most people only dream of having. I am so happy for you all getting just what you want and anxious to see it when you move in and make it really yours. After you move in have a big party so we can all pretend we are there enjoying the house we watched being built.
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to do that!! A virtual open house, ha. Thanks, we can't wait to put our stamp on it.
DeleteWhat a beautiful kitchen! Y’all have thought of everything! Your dream kitchen now a reality. I love everything about it.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!!
DeleteIt's a wonderful kitchen and I love all the gourmet appliances. Calling it a dream kitchen is no exaggeration.
ReplyDeleteThanks, that means a lot to us.
DeleteIt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, we appreciate the kind words!
DeleteI have followed your blog for 20 years..Yes, I'm an oldie lady, retired RN. I'm not one to comment, lazy, I think, but I can't resist this time. I love to cook so this kitchen you guys chose is like a beautiful "chef's kitchen" that a cook lover could dream about! So happy for you both!!! You are making your dream come true. So very sad about your loss with Hobart. Our pets mean so much to us. Maybe when you move into your new home a new kitty will come and become part of your family! Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteWOW! You are awesome!!! Thanks so much for the kind words and thanks for remembering Hobart. He is definitely missed but we'll make sure he and hist two brothers are remembered there too. And you're right, we never know when cat might arrive.
DeleteSunday evening and I think we all miss the Good Food and Hobart blogs!
ReplyDeleteA new kitty has to be part of the new life for, not only you two gentlemen, but for us, as well!
Aww, thank you for this, it means a lot to us. We'll have some more good food for sure and we know the "cat distribution system" has found us three times before, we'll have to make sure we leave our forwarding address!! :-)
