Staying in town this weekend.
Need a break and it's a special weekend anyway and there is not much I can do at the farm this time of year.
We started the day with these unhealthy but utterly delicious bites. They are mini sausages wrapped in bagel dough and then baked to golden perfection. Before you ask for the recipe, ha, we bought these at a local bakery.
Decadent and yummy...
The grass is barely growing...
...and the ground is cracked in places.
But that is all about to change...
These are the storms that are currently inundating Southern Louisiana with flooding...they are moving this direction. It is supposed to be here this afternoon and all day tomorrow. The farm will get water for sure. Some of our blog friends are in Louisiana so we are sending good thoughts to them and reminding them to stay safe and stay out of harms way. We know all too well about flooding danger.
More later!
We also have cracks in our yard but not as bad as we have had in years past and we had some cracks that where 3 feet deep and about a foot wide. That was only just a few years ago when we received no rain and only mowed our yard about 3 times that year.
ReplyDeleteHave an enjoyable weekend.
We did have a very; and I do mean a very light shower last night but we did reach a record high yesterday of 107 deg.
Wow, that's some big cracks. In the year of the great drought, 2011 (?) we had that. It's crazy. More rain coming tomorrow.
DeleteCome on, Rain! We need the water and a cool-down sooo much!
ReplyDeleteAnd now we know we've gotten more rain. And more coming tomorrow. The cooler temp, even if 80's or low 90's instead of 100's is ok. ha.
DeleteStay safe.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Tomorrow (Tuesday) is supposed to be bad. We'll see!
DeleteYum! Around here those are known as piggies-in-a-blanket :)
ReplyDeleteYep, pigs in a blanket. I've had those with biscuit type dough. This bagel dough is so good, ha. I love pigs in anything, ha.
DeleteThat is one of my husband's Top Ten Foods of All Time - I think I might need to make some tomorrow, cuz' you have put me in the mood!!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Hope you did and you enjoyed!
DeleteWe are getting rain now.
ReplyDeleteModeration is the key, ha!
Delete1st Man,
ReplyDeleteSausages wrapped in dough, YUM!!!! Remind me of Kolaches!!!
Be careful with the rain coming your way. Too many people have been experiencing flooding in Louisiana.
Oh! How we LOVE kolaches....yum!!! Yes, our thoughts with those in Louisiana (including some blog followers). Wishing everyone safety!
DeleteA very short time ago, your yard had water standing!
ReplyDeleteI know, isn't that crazy??? Feast or famine I suppose...
DeleteIsn't Mother Nature fickle? We have had rain almost every day since July 4th here in South Mississippi. Yard work and gardening are a scheduling nightmare. Good luck and stay safe. Catherine in south MS.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Catherine! I've heard about MS having rain like that. It's crazy. We had that in the Spring...I think it was weeks with rain almost every day (and way too much flooding too). That's how we got behind in the garden. Starting earlier next Spring! Thanks!!!
DeleteWe had something similar (the little sausage bagel bites) at my nieces graduation party. They were a huge hit and quite tasty!
ReplyDeleteThey are SO yummy, we could eat the daily, though that probably wouldn't be good, ha.
