LIVING ROOM CLEANED UP

Went to the farm to continue the "Spring cleaning" that became "Fall cleaning" and is now "Winter cleaning".

Focused on the bedrooms but not quite finished because the electricity in half the house has stopped working.  I went to the electrical box to check all the circuit breakers.  There is one tripped but no matter what I did to turn it off and back on, it wouldn't catch.  It was getting a bit loose after messing with it and I decided it wasn't worth my life to keep that up, ha.

Last week though, we mentioned that the living room had been done but I forgot to get pictures.  So here are some for new readers who wondered what it looks like.

Standing in the kitchen doorway looking into the living room, this is what you see.  Straight ahead where the light is coming through windows is the foyer/front door that we posted pictures of the desk last week.  That desk is on the other side of the wall where the bookcase is.  To the left is the entrance to the master bedroom.

Walking over to the spot in front of the bookcases, we are looking back to where I was standing to take the first picture.  That is the entrance into the kitchen and the guest room, the open doorway to the right is the entrance into the master bedroom (and that door you see there is the closet).

Looking the other direction you can see the rest of the living room.  Those two windows look out onto the porch.  It's a small living room but it's comfortable.

We probably aren't going to worry about the electrical now. We don't need to put money into something that will be redone anyway and there is no heat or a/c anyway to turn on.  We can use a couple of the outlets in those rooms if needed, it's more the overhead lighting and ceiling fans that don't work.

And next week, pictures of the bedrooms.  Next post will be a garden update.

  1. You probably have a circuit breaker that has gone bad. They are not hard to replace, just flip the main breaker off, pop the old breaker out, transfer the wire to the new breaker (same amperage, please, and pop the new one back in. Flip the main breaker and everything should be as good as new. However, if the new breaker trips, you most likely have a problem in the wiring somewhere, and with your abilities, probably best leave that to an electrician.

    1. After you commented I did some youtube checking and yes, I might try to fix that. I had to flip off the main breaker to put up some ceiling fans a few years back so this should work. I will look into that. And yep, that's as far as I'd go if it didn't work, ha. thank you!

    1. Aww, thanks for that. It is comfy and when we are out there, we love relaxing. That's why we really want to get things moving next year with the remodel. So we can TRULY enjoy it out there and stay for longer times.

  3. I would call an electrician! And, turn off the whole house breaker. Otherwise, you might lose the whole house. Don't be replacing anything yourself.

    1. I will remember this, I think it should be ok, it's been this way for awhile. I just never checked the breaker to fix it because the only thing not working was the overhead stuff and a couple of wall outlets. But we'll keep an eye on things.

    1. We need to have a complete remodel and update (more on that coming soon) but 2nd Man's lay off, the pandemic, everything was put on hold. But hopefully now we're getting back on track. But let's say it was ocmpletley redone and updated tomorrow. We still have another ocuple of years before either of us could retire. He can work from anywhere, remote so that helps. I would still have to drive in and it would be a looooong drive, ha. SO a couple years or so for that but if it was completely redone tomorrow, we'd probably go out once a month and spend a week 'vacation' there. Also on the weekends when I usually go by myself to mow and he has to work in town, with it redone he could come too (and Hobart) and we could spend the whole weekend there and he could work as needed. We just need heat/ac and a working shower, etc to make it livable.

    1. Thank you so much, the hardwoods are pretty good shape, except the kitchen, we think it's boards overlayed on something else but we'll have to see. We'd have them restained but otherwise they are in good solid shape.

  6. Really a nice looking farmhouse. Going from room to room kind-a takes a person back in time.
You might want to think about having an electrician come out to check Everything out.
I love the looks of them wood floors

Enjoy the rest of the week and wishing you both a Very Happy & Healthy New Years. Stay safe

    1. Thank you. We've tried to make it homey inside. I think (hope) we accomplished that. When a contractor comes next month, we might have him go ahead and take a look while he's roaming around checking things out. Stay tuned! Happy New Year coming soon! Please let 2022 be way better than 2020 and 2021.
