Regular readers know that I have a favorite place to look for bargains...our downstairs trash area! Our building has trash chutes on every floor and they feed into a separate room, but for boxes and other things that people can't put in the chute, there is an area (indoor) near the loading dock where people can put the things they don't want. I've found quite a few cool items over the last few years.
Here's another one (and several of you have wondered if we might find something like it again this year):
It finally happened, we scored another Christmas tree. Here it is when I saw it just laying in the recycle area. It was in sections so I had to find them all and carry them over to the loading dock to make sure it would all go back together.
I assembled it and it's all there. It's not pre-lit but that's OK (we'll need white lights on a white cord). It does need some fluffing, you know, the folding/bending branches were smashed up when whoever took it down tossed it in the trash.
I did bend some of the branches out and move them around a bit and it does fluff up nicely, ha.
Here it is outside our storage room. Looks pretty good. Now we know what you are thinking, another tree? Well, if we had found another standard, green Christmas tree, we are going to give it away to a friend who asked for any we found. We have enough of those and will gladly share the love with our finds, BUT... this is a WHITE tree.
We have wanted a white tree for a long time. Not as our main tree of course, but to put special ornaments on. We're thinking this could be the "farm tree" for our farm themed ornaments.
Or maybe a food theme tree in the kitchen/dining room.
Or maybe we can start a Dia de los Muertos tree.
Someone else tossed it because they didn't want it after Christmas and now we'll gladly give it new life for many Christmases to come.
A Die de la Muertos would be fabulous on the white tree! All those great fiesta colors... hmmm... Might have to see if I can find one!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it? I was thinking same, such bright fun colors would look striking on a white tree.
DeleteIt appears to be in excellent condition. I put up multiple trees. I can have as many as I like, and so can you.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Yes, other than smushed a big because they just tossed it in the dumpster, nothing was broken. We like how you think. At the farm we'll have space for multiples. Living room, bedroom, kitchen, dining room, even guest room or entryway. :-)
DeleteOoooh, I want a white tree, too. That is so pretty. You could put that up the beginning of October!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's so pretty. We had seen them before but they aren't as common. Very pretty and we can imagine the colorful ornaments on there would be beautiful.
DeleteIt's lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks! We are happy with the find. And it's in storage now so safe and store until next christmas.
DeleteYou find the best things!! I vote for a food themed tree in the kitchen.
ReplyDelete2nd Man has always wanted a tree in the kitchen with food and cooking ornaments on it. We shall see.
DeleteWow, that was great that you found just the kind of tree you were wanting! I love your idea of having a special themed tree.
ReplyDeleteIt would make a great theme tree because whatever we put on it will stand out.
Deletewhat a great find! you guys are going to miss that place when you move to the farm!
ReplyDeleteRight? Ha.
DeleteGood for you!! I feel like I should put in my orders with you instead of Amazon!! (but it is a long way to Washington state for shipping). Hope you had a great holiday season!! c
ReplyDeleteLOL we could start a shipping service, ha. We had a great holiday hope you guys did too. And Washington? I'll have to drop you an email.
DeleteGreat find.
ReplyDeleteI much like using a white tree for decorating at anytime of the year, not only for Christmas, but 4 Valentine's Day, 4th of July, Special events throughout the year; Super Bowl Sunday, decorated for birthday's, etc., etc.
Years ago I had a white tree, and just painted some pinecones with bright (metallic) gold. I must say it was really pretty and that gold really popped with the white. I even stuck in some red cardinal birds just here and there for yet another pop of color.
With all them Free trees, you both could go into the tree decorating business. :}
Oh wow I never thought about those ideas. cool! Heck, even valentines day would be pretty with red hearts and stuff. Hmm...MAYBE a Daytona 500 tree? LOL
DeleteDecorating for the Daytona would be fun. Check at Party City for special items during and throughout the year for decorative items; black and white checkered tablecloth for tree skirt or cut in 1/2 length wise and use as garland on the tree.
DeleteParty City has a nice variety of items when it comes to holidays or special events. Right now Everyone has their Valentine merchandise out.
OOOH! Smart idea about that checked "flag" tablecloth! I bet they have some race theme things too, like banners that would work as garland. Hmm, might have to think about that.
DeleteKeep an eye out for markdown kit of new year celebration supplies and dress your white tree up as a New Years tree too! We have birthdays close to the holidays and sometime we add birthday balloons and streamers its so fun to have theme trees. I love having as many trees in my house as I can too!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, any reason to keep up decorating. That's neat. And using birthday balloons and streamers is smart too. Thanks!!! And yep, we'll have several too. It sounds like fun.
DeleteWhen I mentioned putting it up in October, I was thinking of Day of the Dead decorations.
ReplyDeleteWell that would be the perfect time for it for sure. Not to mention it could semi-double as a Halloween tree.
DeleteThat would be pretty at a Christmas wedding.
ReplyDeleteOh, never throught about that. No weddings coming up for us or anyone we know but good to remember in case someone every asks.
