A few weeks ago, 2nd Man and I went off to Matagorda, TX. It was his brother's delayed reception from their wedding a few months back. We thought it might be nice to share some pictures of how we're not that far from being at the beach if we want (Galveston is, of course, closer, but Matagorda is less "busy" and less "touristy" so it's a more relaxing pace.
Matagorda is right along the coast, about 95 miles from downtown Houston. It's where the Colorado River empties into Matagorda Bay and into the Gulf of Mexico.
The decorating theme was rustic, burlap and sunflowers, her favorite flower (names redacted for privacy). Great food, catered BBQ with all the sides and wonderful cakes, an Italian Cream cake for the big cake and Texas Sheet cake for the Groom's cake.
The location was a venue that was right on the Colorado river. It was a beautiful day (this was before it got so oppressively hot) and it was so nice to be near water like this when we're used to being in the country on the weekends.
Lots of people on boats, fishing, leisure, etc.
Some really nice houses right on the water as well.
They had these cute giveaway keepsakes. The koozies had two fishing hooks in the shape of a heart and "We Got Hooked" with their names.
And then my favorite part...
This basket at the sign-in table that was filled with...
...sunflower seed packets!
What a wonderful idea. They had their "burlap" theme on them with their names and the date of their wedding. Of course, they had me at basket of free "seeds", ha. We grabbed four packets. We'll put one up to keep for future memories and the others will be planted at some point so that we can indeed...
Let Love Grow!
Thanks for sharing all the lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteThe water area looks really nice. Love all of the little touches of their wedding.
ReplyDeleteMatagorda Beach is about an hour from here. I’ve been enjoying going there all my life.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really fun wedding reception with lots of personal touches. Great idea of giving out sunflower seeds – such happy flowers!
I have sunflowers growing in my garden every summer – planted by the birds after visiting my bird feeder.
