We're hoping that the "END OF OCTOBER" photo will be green again...just in time for Winter, ha.

Oh wow! You have had a blistering summer. We are not a lot greener even using the sprinkler system a bit. All we are trying to do is keep it alive__forget lush! Anne in the kitchen

ReplyDeleteWe actually received our 1st measurable rainfall Sunday afternoon late since the middle of May. Received 1/2 inch with in a half hour time; was a quick and heavy rain.

Iowa looks very much like your August photo. I finally broke down and started hauling hose yesterday as it looks like some plants may not survive if I don't. Some may have already given up the ghost, I'm hoping they have gone dormant not dead. In hind sight, I should have ignored all "chance of rain" forecasts and been watering all of July-August. A newspaper article said that even if rains came today, it's too late to do any good for corn and beans in most places. But the trees, pastures, and hay fields would certainly benefit. Sadly nothing is in the forecast for at least a week and we're back to the mid-upper 90s for Labor Day weekend. Apple orchards are saying crops will be early and smaller this year.
