Ceramic Berry Baskets |
We found these really cool ceramic berry baskets the other day. They were on clearance at our local Kroger grocery store. The store has a housewares section that has become my new favorite place to check out whenever I'm in there grocery shopping as they are always putting stuff on clearance.
These were only $2.00 each!
The thing that's cool is that they are textured...instead of the smooth ceramic and/or porcelain that many are. This gives them the same 'feel' as cardboard ones. Amazon sells ceramic berry baskets, but I haven't seen any exactly like these. They will definitely come in handy during dewberry season this year.
Rinse them off and keep them in the fridge!

Of course, it's 30's here today with sleet and rain...dewberry season seems like it's ages away.
Those are cool. They look like ceramic slip (mud) has been painted on the the paper ones and baked in a kiln. Can you do that? Great find.
ReplyDeleteI wondered about that? Of course, they are made in Taiwan or someplace (not China, surprisingly) so it's probably a mass produced thing. But it's cool that they have that look.
DeleteOoooooh I like these. And such a bargain.
ReplyDeleteI know, I wasn't sure if if was the deal or the items themselves, ha.
DeleteThose are Super sweet / cool
ReplyDeleteThank you, I was so lucky, they only had three too.
DeleteYou got a bargain there. I can think of loads more uses for them too.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! We were thinking of other things too. Thanks!!
DeleteI can see the texture on the sides...they almost look like a real berry box was used for a mold don't they?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought. I've seen them before, all smooth and shiny, but these do have the same textures as the real thing. Maybe they did copy them somehow and then mass produced them onto all the others, not sure.
DeleteThose are so cool!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, it was a lucky find. Right place at the right time, ha.
DeleteLove the texture and the price is fantastic! Wish I lived near a Kroger with a housewares section.
ReplyDeleteThis is the only one near us with one. Lots of Krogers but this one has the biggest housewares section. Normally I skip those but now that I know....ha.
DeleteAt Anthrpology they sell those for $14 for one. Good find.
ReplyDeleteWow, cool, I need to show this to 2nd Man so he knows that I did get a good deal, LOL!
Deletereally, really cool! i have a small enamel colander i use for my daily berries, but i only have the one. having several 'drainable' containers would be great!
ReplyDeleteI thought that too, it's nice to have them for draining several batches of berries at once.
Delete1st Man,
ReplyDeleteNice!!! I haven't seen these ceramic holders for berries yet. I'll need to keep an eye out for them up here.
Keep an eye out, you might see them. And hopefully on clearance, ha. Stay warm!!!
