HAMMOCK WITH FLOWERS, INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm. Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!

Regular blog readers know that I have a desire for a hammock.  I've been told though to "wait" by 2nd Man, which I think means possible future gift?  Shhh, he won't see this blog post, ha.  So anyway, while I "wait", it doesn't hurt to look at pictures and plan for some future possibility.

While I think I found two trees near the house that would work nicely, this idea of two large posts is pretty great too.  This means you could put one anywhere.  Of course they'd have to be set in concrete but still, could be a good alternative.

Be inspired!

  1. Beautiful setting, but placing close to a beautiful flower garden like this I wouldn't want to be surrounded by the bees and wasps that would be flying around.
Nice shaded; sitting area would be nice.
If using posts, you wouldn't have to put in cement. Just get you a couple of them steal stakes for the 4x4 posts and use them. Than if you want; they can be dug up and placed else were if need be. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Oz-Post-T4-600-4-in-Square-Fence-Post-30180/203215004

You pound the steak into the ground; add your 4x4 posts and bolt the posts into the steal stake.

    1. For extra support bolt and another 4x4 towards the top connecting the other 4x4 posts

  2. Love a good hammock! We have some wooded areas here that would be perfect for one. I saw a blog once where folks used an old trampoline (yes, a round one) and suspended it by chains from a tree. Added lots of colorful pillows. THAT would be fun wouldn't it?

  3. What a beautiful, relaxing scene! Since you've already had your birthday this year, will you have to "wait" until Christmas for your "surprise" from 2nd Man?

  4. It appears that the hammock is attached to a building of some sort. I've always wanted a hammock. Practical Parsimony

  5. A shady spot would be good so two trees are usually the best option.
