Flowers and a gate, photo courtesy of Southern Living |
I've always been fond of this picture. I'm not sure what kind of flowers these are (anyone know?), but they are just gorgeous. If I knew I could get this look, I'd just throw down some seeds, all along the driveway.
Heck, we even have a gate like this one. When I saved this picture, I didn't know we would have the gate but now we do. All we need now are the flowers.
Enjoy the day!
Be inspired!
They look like cosmos, at first glance. :)
ReplyDeleteCosmos! Thank you!
DeleteIt is a beautiful picture! They are cosmos.
ReplyDeleteYay, now I know, thank you so much!!
DeleteI believe they are Cosmos. They are pretty easy to grow. The DOT uses them in highway medians so, pretty care free:)
ReplyDeleteReally? Wow, I didn't know, makes me want to go buy some seeds and toss them around, ha. Thank you
DeleteYour inspiration pics are always so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI had to pop over and let you know that you [and by extension 2nd man] inspired me this morning. I was frying up sausage for breakfast and I thought that I should make his famous sausage gravy that you posted a while back. I remember reading it, and the pics - so from my memory I went ahead and whipped it up. OMGosh! So, so, so good. Pooldad went to work with a big 'ol smile on his face [and bragging rights for his crew who now want to come to Easter Brunch at our house ::grinning::] I am pretty darn popular today in our pond. So please let 2nd man know, and to you too, THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing his lovely breakfast with us and inspiring me to finally cook it after all these years.
One thing tho' - I had to serve it over white toast. I STILL have not mastered biscuits. Go figure.
Have a wonderful weekend. And thank you again. :)
OH. MY. GOSH. Thank you for such a thoughtful comment. Wow. I'm glad y'all enjoyed it. Hey, nothing wrong with white toast! I've actually had it that way as well. We're working on a biscuit posting, it'll be up next week. Thank you again, you made our day. :-)
DeleteThose are cosmos, maybe cosmos bippinatus. I LOVE that look, too!
ReplyDeleteCool, thank you for the full name. Isn't it such a neat look? So carefree and pretty.
DeleteCosmos are a wonderful annual and you can throw down the seeds , stand back and off they grow. better yet - they self sow - Opening Scene of The Color Purple is a field of cosmos so beautiful they come in other colors too
ReplyDeleteReally? Do i need to till the ground or just toss down some seeds and water? I would love to try that. I remember the color purple, and that field does stick in my mind. Thank you for the info, might just give it a try.
DeleteI think the flowers might be cosmos. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKaren
Cool, thank you!! And yes, so beautiful!
DeleteLOVE cosmos! When we moved to Japan as a child, my mom saw cosmos growing on the side of the road and nostalgically thought of her childhood in Ohio... Now when I see them here in NC I nostalgically think of my childhood in Japan! Must plant some so my kids can think back on them fondly when they're grown. Thanks for the post!
ReplyDeleteAww, what a nice memory. I feel that way with alyssum, or more specifically, the smell of alyssum. Reminds me of my Grandmothers yard.
DeleteI love that you want to create new memories that are linked with yours. Awesome idea!!
