COLD BUT BEAUTIFUL SATURDAY

I'm sure some of you may have heard about our rare snowfall, yep it snowed in Houston. We have some pics to share in a later post, but here is a quick one (click to enlarge):

Snow in downtown Houston
This was Thursday night as the snow started to fall.  I wasn't going to take pictures because, well, it was night and we're in downtown, but I thought I'd try.  Turns out the flash reflected off the snowflakes and made for a really cool picture.  Anyway, that was just the beginning.  Will have a "snow post" later this weekend including pictures from in town and pictures from 2nd Family.

The weather for the next week is amazing. This is what we wait for around these parts.

So today it's off to the farm to check on things and see what I can continue doing in the barn/workshop while it's cool and I'm not sweating my you know what off.  Hope you are warm and your weekend is off to a great start.

  1. with the city lights and the snow falling makes for a very pretty photo.
Don't freeze your buns off today working @ the farm.
I think I need to break down and buy me a propane heater for my shed. Right now it's just a bit chilly to be working out there.
    Have an enjoyable day

    1. It was cold. You know it was funny you mentioned the propane heater, I was thinking of what I could do out there in the barn without electricity. Propane might be nice (but I know we have to be careful of course). It was a good (cold) day.

  2. Wow, that is a beautiful picture of snowy Downtown! Yesterday's morning snowy scene was so gorgeous - like a winter wonderland. And the snow was like fluffy powder.
I was sooo worried about my garden being damaged but I was happy to see that it turned out to be fine. Even my marigolds and Butterfly Weed didn't freeze. And my Meyer lemons on the tree were fine also.
I just walked outside and it's a very nice day - the sun is out and it's cool but not cold. Have a good day at the Farm!

  7. Pictures I take of snowing has lovely flakes. Friends as how I get the snowflakes in the picture. I don't know, but I do. However, I am not close enough to a city to get spectacular shots like you did. It is all gone in the northern part of AL, but it snowed over six inches south of Birmingham. Right now, it is just cold. Cold, I tell you!
