GOOD FOOD AND HOBART SUNDAY

Well it's another hot weekend.  Spring is definitely gone.  Ugh.

This is a recent meal...

2nd Man made this bean soup that I love, using a bag of mixed beans and some smoked turkey meat.  We buy the already smoked turkey legs, they are fully cooked of course but he boils them to extract more flavor into the liquid and it makes the meat easy to come off the bone.

Served with some fresh bread and it's always such a yummy meal.  This weekend I made a dish that will be coming up in a future post.

Now the apartment was fairly cool because we had the a/c down lower than usual while 2nd Man was baking and Hobart was cold.  He was on the couch on his blanket and we covered him up.  He doesn't like to be completely covered, he doesn't like his head to be covered and so we don't.  Because...

  1. Funny Hobart doesn't like his head covered. Our last cat would get himself under a blanket and go in a circle once or twice until he was completely tucked in. It was so funny to watch. We learned to never sit on a blanket without checking first to make sure he wasn't wrapped up in there.

    1. I know, I always thought all cats liked to be under the covers. We had a cat that used to work his way down to the foot of the bed under the covers at night, ha. Hobart will sleep if you cover him and leave his head out but if you put it over him, he'll be up in about 30 seconds, ha.

  2. Besan soup looks delicious.
    Hobart likes to have his head not covered; that way he won't miss out on anything. :} (1 eye open and one closed :}

    1. It's very good and super simple. Plus we ate on it all weekend when we had it. Yep, Hobart is making sure he doesn't miss out on something. ;-)

    1. I remember growing up, if we travelled on vacation, my parents would get us in the motel room and crank that a/c down to like 40, LOL. It was SUCH good sleeping ha.

  5. Wonderful looking soup with the variety of beans and smoked turkey. Such a delicious comfort food. I love to make bean soup also – I buy the package with 15 different beans and add my own seasonings.
    Cozy picture of sweet Hobart.

    1. That's exactly what we get that 15 bean variety. He doesn't use the seasoning pack that comes in it, he just puts in his own and then the smoked turkey adds such great depth of flavor. It's good. Hobart is a sweetie for sure.

  6. I made one of your recipes recently - sheet pan quesadilla - except I modified it and used a flat iron griddle because I only had four flour tortillas. I used a smaller iron skillet to weigh it down. I put a black bean mixture on the inside. We had the leftovers for breakfast with scrambled eggs.
