NEW SUNSHINE JARS FROM BALL

You all know me by now, I never met a canning jar I didn't like, ha.  In the last few years, Ball has been coming out with limited editions jars in colors and shapes and even the embossed patterns on them.

Saw these recently at lunch:

The newest release from Ball.  They are called:

Of course...

I had to get them!

They only make this size and since I never go overboard and buy multiple packs (though a couple of times I found some on clearance and had to get two for the price of one, ha), I threw a package in the basket.

Here is a closeup...it's just a happy embossed sun with rays of sunshine radiating out.

The following picture are from the Ball website. I always like when they give recipes and/or ideas on how to use the special jars they make and what to put in them.

This is a peach and orange blossom honey jam!  That's a nice "sunny" flavor combination.

These were some sweet and sour candied citrus.  Also would be really cool in the jar.

This is not lemonade but a citrus mint mocktail.  But hey, anything sunny and bright would be cute served in these, including lemonade!  I like I like the idea of a jam thought, I was thinking marmalade would be great!

I'm currently trying to figure out where to make my canning station, well, canning jars/supplies station.  We have a nice cabinet that is perfect but not sure where it will fit in the new house.  I might have to claim a cabinet or two in the kitchen.

  1. Awesome! I will have to check at Wall-Mart to see if they have some on their shelves.
    Great for Sweet Tea.
Thanks for the heads up about these fun Sunshine jars.
Blessings to you both and may you both have a wonderful and relaxed holiday weekend.

  2. Just my suggestion, but your canning supplies should be in a cabinet either in the garage or in that huge pantry! It's a seasonal thing ... probably best in the garage!
The jars are cute ... Orange marmalade, absolutely! Maybe try lemon 🍋 marmalade or curd!

  3. I never found the last ones you bought. I know I can get them from Amazon, but I fear they will stick the package in a box and ship and let them knock around. I am not afraid they will break. Microchips can cause jars to burst.

  4. Those are such happy-looking jars! A glass of sunshine!
Hoping you find the perfect spot for your canning jars and supplies. I keep my jars and large canner in the garage but I’ve always wished there could be a place for them in the house. Fortunately, I inherited my mom’s China cabinet which is perfect for storing and displaying my canned goods in the house.

  5. Here I am washing spaghetti sauce jars to save (not to can with). They are useful for a lot of other things. I bought a case of canning jars one time to use thinking I was going to do some canning. My aunt needed some for pickles and I gave them to her. Needless to say, she didn't can any pickles and my case of jars were lost forever in a hurricane. I was evacuating to stay with a friend of mine and I called my aunt, who was in her early 80's, and she was going to get on a bus to go inland. I said no, you are coming with me. Her house was never livable again and had to be demolished along with my canning jars. Thankfully, I had a rental house that was available and she lived there until she had to go into assisted living. My aunt is still living and doing well. It's funny how something as simple as canning jars can bring back a memory.

  6. I don't can but, I found the Ball's Nesting jars (16 oz.) and use them to store hummingbird nectar ... With a pouring lid, very convenient to fill the feeders and they have a smaller footprint in the refrigerator and cabinet.
