GOOD FOOD AND HOBART SUNDAY

The first Sunday of the new year, 2022.  It's cold here.  As this posts is 34 at the farm and 36 in downtown Houston.  Not as cold as many of you but cold for us.

Today is the usual good food and Hobart post...

Lasagna and broccoli salad

2nd Man made a béchamel lasagna and I made a broccoli salad that he loves.  Kind of like a coleslaw with broccoli, bacon, cheese and onion.  Oh and garlic bread too.  It was all wonderful and we've eaten on it all weekend.  The only thing better than hot lasagna right out of the oven is cold lasagna out of the fridge, ha.

Apothic Sparkling Red

With the meal and again at midnight, we had some bubbly.  Here is one of our new favorites, Apothic Sparkling Red.  It's a fizzy red wine.  So good.

Cherry pie and Blue Bell homemade vanilla ice cream

Then for dessert, a cherry pie with some Blue Bell vanilla ice cream.  It was a good New Year's Eve.

Hobart staring at you

And Sunday means Hobart.  Here he is...staring at you...to see if he can use the power of his mind to get you to do something, we're not sure what though so beware, ha!

Happy New Year everyone!

  1. Your New Year’s food looks fantastic! Every dish is a winner! I had the traditional black-eyed peas, cornbread. cabbage for the greens, and bacon for the pork. It was really good, especially after spending hours prepping for this freeze. The wind is blowing so bad which makes it feel even colder. It’s getting down to 28 here tonight. It’s cold 🥶 out here on the prairie!
Lucky Hobart with his beautiful fur coat!

  3. This last week, we had temps in the 70s and one day of 80. So, today it is 50 and snow is in the forecast. We went out for a bit and it was so damp and a bit of wind, so it felt much colder. Will you and 2nd man share those recipes? Hobart is such a beautiful cat.
