BONUS DEER PHOTO

You probably saw our post yesterday with the deer coming back and forth for a few days but those were in the evening, no daylight pics.  But then I checked the other memory card and found this one.

I had to zoom in and crop it so you could see it well, but here's one having a good time running through the front yard.   Too cool.

Heading to the farm as this posts, we're taking some stuff out there and need to take some measurements for some planning. 😊

Hope your weekend is off to a good start!

    1. Yep, we've protected the orchard area with our fishing line fence, they completely avoid the area now but yeah, when we get our garden back up and running, they could easily jump the fence (though never had the issue before but maybe there are more now, ha). We'll have to keep an eye on that.

  2. Sometimes I see 13 or more deer out in the pasture next to our building! Herds of them wander all over Canon City, CO ... They are just part of the community and the traffic!

  3. A double fence will for sure keep them out. An orangerie would work better.

  4. What a Great photo. That deer is off to the races. Thanks for sharing.
(attention everyone; Deer races are now being held at the Seda Bolsa Farm.) :-)
Enjoy your day and have a wonderful weekend.
We did manage to get our yard mowed Friday; which is always a good job done.

  5. Like someone anonymously said, deer like gardens! When you plan your garden, critters, not just deer, need to be accounted for. Rabbits, raccoons, squirrels…

I have a house suggestion: solar panels. Either on the roof or free standing. We invested in them a couple years ago and now we usually don’t pay an electric bill. Here in Virginia, our “overflow” goes back to the grid not batteries. There is a federal tax credit available too. Our state also has an incentive plan that pulls in a little more money too. We put that money towards our other utilities like natural gas and water. What’s really cool for you is that at this stage you could plan for the panels and their cost would be included in your mortgage. Ours were separate but when we refinanced, I was able to fold that cost in.

  7. I just ran across your site.I like it. When ya'll get ready to fence the deer out of your garden you might consider shade cloth. Deer won't jump over if they can't see the other side or, so I've been told. The shade cloth will let the air flow thru and will provide a little shade for some of your more tender veggies in this Texas sun. What part of "east of Dallas" are ya'll in? I'm near Emory.
