CONTAINER FLOWERBED INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm. Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!

I've posted images before that have an old washtub being used as a planter like this.  This one goes a step further and has other containers around it.  I'll be honest, I kind of like this "container grouping" idea of planting flowers as a focal point instead of an in ground flowerbed.  No worries about soil conditions, ease of changing out what's not working, seasonal, etc.

Now not everywhere of course, but for something quick and easy, a nice variety of galvanized tubs put together in a spot and we could easily have some medicinal herbs, mints (so they won't spread), flowers, etc. close at hand.

Be inspired!

  1. I do like them galvanized containers of all shapes and sizes.
Planting with a variety of plants (some tall, some medium & some short) to what is in season & decorated up for the holidays as well. Can even add a solar light in each container to really make them extra special and showing off the plants at night.
Containers always looks best when grouped together in odd numbers. Nice thing about container gardening you can either paint your containers for extra color or leave as is.

  2. Try watching Garden Answer on you tube. She lives in Oregon but does a lot of container plantings and groupings. Beautiful galvanized pots.

  3. This is a very pretty combination of containers and plants. Your idea of mints and herbs would be perfect.
I have some pots on my front porch filled with mints, parsley, and other herbs - handy for cooking and teas and they smell wonderful.

  4. Love the concept of containing invasive plants (mints)
Requires a commitment to watering. If Texas summers are like Tennessee summers, watering is sometimes needed twice daily
