HOT WEEKEND OFF

This graphic kind of says it all...

...a hot weekend is here. It only rained a bit at the farm on Monday and then it's been just hot and dry all week.

That's actually good news for mowing, it means the yard will be nicely dried and easy(ish) to mow.  The bad news is I don't have the Zen Machine back for this weekend.

BUT back to good news...it's ready!  Yep, all fixed up (more on that in an upcoming post).  They just couldn't get it delivered by the weekend so instead, it will be delivered Monday.  Since there is no way I could wait until NEXT weekend to mow (it's only getting taller by the hour, ha) I am going to take a day off Tuesday.

I'm pretty sure that mowing will be a multi-day task so I will do what I can Tuesday and then again next Saturday and/or Sunday.  Check out the forecast for the week.  NO RAIN!  Phew.  Of course, Tuesday looks like it will be the hottest day of the week but hey, we do what we have to do.

So this weekend we'll be staying in town and it will be a nice break from the routine.  We're going to run some errands and eat some good food.

Hope you have a great weekend!

  1. I’m very glad your mower is fixed; too bad it could not be delivered by this weekend. Please be careful when you go to the Farm on Tuesday to mow. The heat is at a dangerous level now.
    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. I know, ugh. They tried, but their deliveries were going the other direction Friday. It's a good weekend so far, watching the Olympics and staying where it's cool. Yes, Tuesday will be hot. I'll be careful.

  2. Too bad you wasn't able to rent a mower from a rental place or had someone come out to mow just certain areas that you wanted mowed. Just bad that they weren't able to deliver your mower. Some of that real tall grass but be hard on your mower; so do be careful.
Take care, stay safe and keep cool
Have a wonderful evening, along with a great weekend.

    1. We made a few calls but most were just doing "yards" and weren't used to bigger spaces and the ones who might have were booked. DIdn't think about a rental but oh well. We'll have it back. And yep, I'm going to mow the regular stuff that shouldn't be that bad and then use the weedeater on the really tall stuff. I'll stay cool. I hope. An clots of water.

  4. Wear a hat and shirt. Sip water continuously as you drive the mower. That s hot weather. Why don't you spray the bushes after you cut to get rid of them entirely since they will regrow forever!

    1. Yes ma'am! 2nd Man bought me some sunscreen too. I thought about that on some of the weeds, nothing near the garden of course but elsewhere all is fair game, ha.

  5. The first cutting might not be so zen like with all the heat! Take care and take breaks to cool down. (If that is even possible)
BTW my vanilla beans came and a day later after a shower and numerous hand washings, my fingers still have a faint vanilla scent. Thank you for the link! The beans are perfect and now I have rum, bourbon and vodka infusing for Christmas time baking.

    1. That's for sure. I'll do my best to keep cool. Stay tuned!

Yay for the vanilla! You are doing what 2nd Man just said to me the other day "maybe we should make bourbon and rum, they all can have different uses". I think I need to get started on that. I was thinking of a pecan pie using extract from the bourbon. I think they could all have a place in baking. Need to figure out a good brand for bourbon and for rum.
