One of our local TV stations was giving away some Red Cross Deluxe Emergency kits for the beginning of Hurricane Season. KHOU.com. You could enter online daily and so most nights, while watching the news and getting the reminder, I would enter.
Red Cross Deluxe Emergency Kit |
I kind of forgot about it for a bit. Then the other day I got an email that said I was chosen as a winner!
WOO HOO!
Above is a picture of what all it comes with...including a backpack filled with all sorts of items. A first aid kit, bags of drinking water and ration bars, a crank radio, flashlight, duct tape, and more...even a collapsible 3 gallon water bag.

We'll keep this in town for emergencies, since we have some supplies at the farm, plus I'm working on a better first aid kit for out there as well.
We've ordered some cool things for that at Amazon and will have that in an upcoming post. Of course today is the second annual AMAZON PRIME DAY. We're hoping for some great deals for some of the rest of the supplies we need as this is supposed to be the Amazon equivalent of Black Friday. We'll see, ha.
This is a pretty neat giveaway that they provided to viewers and so we'd like to say thank you to the Red Cross and thank you to KHOU.com News for sponsoring it. That's channel 11 locally, the CBS affiliate. The best local news (and not just because we won, we really do watch them exclusively). When we have an emergency weather situation, they are the place we trust the most.

ReplyDeleteAlways nice to have a well supplied First Aide Kit handy; not only during the severe bad times but nice to have for cuts, scrapes, bee stings, etc..
Might consider adding Hydrogen Peroxide, Rubbing Alcohol, Q-Tips along with Ace Bandage/elastic bandage, a splint and white medical tape, eye wash,Disposable Plastic Tweezers,Paramedic Shears or good sharp scissors .
Forgot to mention; it's always nice to have a small First Aide Kit to keep in your car. Speaking of experience and Trust me, it does come in handy.
DeleteWhat a great way to be prepared. And by the way I've already been shopping in Amazon prime day, some great deals!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great prize! I won a weather radio from a tv station. I'll trade you. Mine is still in the box.
ReplyDeleteWoot!! Congrats, that is great!
ReplyDeleteCool beans! We nurses love bandages. On your farm you might consider some essential oils in your first aide kit. tea tree oil is a great antiseptic and lavender is wonderful for bug bites.
ReplyDeleteI saw that on KHOU and thought that would be a great kit to have. Congratulations on your win!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! Every one could use that. Congratulations.
ReplyDeletecool that you won it; hope you don't have to use it!
