NEW CART OLD CART

Living in a high-rise, carrying groceries and packages to and from the parking garage, up and down the elevators, back and forth in the halls etc can be difficult.

When we moved in, we got a small rolling cart for that purpose.  It was used and abused and served us well over the last few years but it was time for a new one.

We got this one recently.  Here it is, larger and more sturdy than our old one and can carry more, both in volume and weight.

Then we decided that it might be some good Karma to take our old one downstairs with a sign on it and let someone else use it for a while.  I printed "FREE" on a piece of paper and took it downstairs to the place where I always find the good stuff and left it.

About an hour later, all that was left was the sign...the cart was gone!  It's off to a new home with someone else who was probably as excited to find it as I am with my finds.

Paying it forward for all the stuff we've found!

  1. That's a really good option ... your cart was still in good shape and totally usable so, yes, pay it forward! Those carts are not cheap! I use a larger one for my laundry!

    1. Yep, we needed something bigger and a bit more sturdy as we carry in large loads from time to time and I take stuff to the farm and use it. And there was no way I could throw it away. Glad someone could use it.

  2. What a wonderful and thoughtful thing to do! And earn some good Karma.
Your new cart looks really nice and sturdy.
Even after you move to the Farm, I can see plenty of good uses there, such as transporting trees and other plants from your car to the planting site, moving garden supplies around, taking things to a pretty place on your property for a picnic, etc.

    1. Yes, we've already used this new one a few times to move some stuff around at the farm. I like the picnic idea! That would be perfect!

  3. We just donated our old one to the local food pantry. Many of the folks walk there and need a cart.
I'll be picky now and wonder why the new owner left the "free" sign there instead of disposing it.

    1. Oh wow, never thought of the food pantry. I'm going to mention that to the building in case others want to donate theirs. As for the sign, well in all fairness it was right by the trash dumpster and there were boxes that were all piled around it and nearby. They could have have tossed it up on the top and it fell off. I just thought it was funny they pulled the sign off and took the car so quickly, ha. Love the food pantry idea though, definitely going to remember that.

  4. Mary,
Maybe the person did not want to be seen with secondhand merchandise. Nice cart. someone should be happy.

    1. Now that's a good point, it's possible. When we found one of the trees in a box once, there was a. "free" sign on it and in that case, I pulled it off right away because I was moving it upstairs and had to leave it sitting and didn't want someone else to think it was free for them, I had already claimed it, ha.

  5. Bless you for that.
Makes a person feel good inside to repay a kindness received with a good deed to someone else.
