CAPRESE SALAD REINVENTED

Caprese Salad in a different way
Sometimes, there is nothing that speaks "Summer" to us more than a Caprese salad.  It's a popular Italian salad that is made simply with just tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.  Nothing is as good when the tomatoes and basil are fresh from your own garden.

2nd Man makes a salad like this at least once a month and recently, while searching the Internet, I found this picture of a new twist on the classic.  Same ingredients, but a much different presentation.  We love this idea.  It's a tomato, sliced into sections, not sliced all the way through of course, and then slices of cheese and basil leaves are placed into each section (which helps to 'fan' it apart).  Lastly, the top is drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

1-2-3, done!  Serve one to each of your guests on a white plate and it's oh so pretty and will be the talk of the evening!  Enjoy!

    1. Mozzarella is the most commonly used cheese and it's what we use when we make this. Just slice it into appropriate sized slices so that it "fits" the secions and you're done! :-)
